I am a qualified guidance counsellor and a member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and The Teaching Council. I have a Higher Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, an MA in Adult and Community Education and a degree in English and Psychology and am recognised by the British Psychological Society as an accredited psychometric tester at Levels A and B.
I have twelve years’ experience of delivering guidance at Second Level and to Further Education students. My programme includes: Subject choice for Senior Cycle, study skills, career research, psychometric testing, UCAS references and personal statements, CAO, Access, and HEAR/DARE applications
I have experience working with adults and assisting third level students apply for and secure postgraduate courses. I can help you compose a personal statement, update your CV, assist with job application forms and advise on the Competency Based Interview process.
My sessions are driven by what the client needs. I charge €60 an hour but the rate is negotiable if the client needs a longer period or more sessions and this will be discussed at the first meeting. Sessions could include some or all of the following:
Initial Interview, Occupational Interest Inventories, Psychometric Tests after which the client receives a comprehensive report and feedback on same. This will include suggestions for career research and a research workbook designed to facilitate the career decision making process.
If required, clients are given information on different routes to careers, applying to CAO and UCAS, studying in the UK and in Europe and Further Education links to Third Level.
