Voluntary Committee made up of local people, organizations and groups working in the Garryowen area. The Garryowen Community Committee was set up in July 2008, with the help of the PAUL Partnership in Limerick. The Committee is made up of volunteers living and working in the Garryowen area. The committee meet once a month to discuss issues facing the community and try to work together in finding solutions.

The role of the Committee is to represent the Community and also encourage and support local people to in actively participating in the local Community.

The area of Garryowen was built between 1958 and 1962 ( 1075 homes) on the east side of Limerick with a further expansion in 2001 with the building of Fairview Crescent. The Garryowen area has a large population of Senior Citizens and young people. Garryowen is a sporting community with a long history of soccer, GAA, and rugby. There is great volunteer spirit within the Garryowen area, with an abundance of groups meeting on a weekly basis and doing great work. The people of Garryowen have long been calling out for a Community Centre for the area, and we endeavor to work together to make this possible.
