We love everything about food – cooking, growing, eating, sharing, talking, tasting, making – and we love to source our foods from as close by as we can. Preserve your own vegetables! Short talk: 11.30am this Saturday 20th of July at The Little Green Grocer. Do you grow your own vegetables? Is your garden brimming with more produce than your family can eat this summer? Why not think about preserving some vegetables for your family to enjoy in the winter ahead. Preserve your own produce and help preserve the planet at the same time! Simona Mihai of the fabulous Edmundburry Greens (their beautiful micro greens, pickles, preserves and jams are great favourites with our customers) will be in store this Saturday morning to talk us through her favourite natural methods of preserving her home grown vegetables when she has more than she can use. Simona will pass on many tips that she learned growing up in Romania, where her family traditions of pickling, bottling, preserving and now freezing are passed on from one generation to the next. And even if you don’t grow your own vegetables you can learn how to keep our wonderful locally grown organic summer produce for the winter ahead!
