Science Week at KCVS was a huge success. Students took part in many events including a talk on DNA by Dr Cas Kramer who is a lecturer at the University of Leicester. His talk was highly engaging and interactive as students learned all about their DNA, where it comes from and what your DNA does? Students took part in an interactive experiment and learned how DNA is used in solving crimes. Next students visited Waterford Institute of Technology for a lecture from Dr Sheila Willis who is head of Forensic Science Ireland. Here students learned all about the role of science in crime investigation and how forensic science in crime investigation has changed over the years. The KCVS science quiz was a huge success as always. Students very much showed their competitive side as many teams were neck n neck right to end. Well done to all who took part and also to the winning teams. Finally students were treated to a visit from our local Reptile Zoo. They got an opportunity to learn about various reptiles and amphibians. Students were highly engaged and one of the highlights for them was the tasting of some edible insects. Great fun had by all.
