Medieval Mile Museum
Description
Opening early 2017 The Medieval Mile Museum is Kilkenny’s newest visitor attraction located in the heart of the city and the centre of Ireland Medieval Mile. The setting is the 13th century St Mary’s cruciform church and graveyard with its heritage of medieval and renaissance style tombs of national historical significance. We tell the stories of the wealthy merchants who built and attended St Marys church and ruled Kilkenny between 1200 and 1650. The Museum displays Kilkenny’s Civic Treasures, showcasing the Ossory High Crosses and magnificent stone carved tombs and many significant artefacts unearthed during the restoration of this church and surrounding graveyard. Self guided and guided tours are available.
