This one was for Denise, best of luck in the new job! Farewell Denise! It’s a sad day for Donegal, Denise Casserley is moving on After nine years in the Northwest the legend from Frenchpark will be gone I’ll miss her Westie accent & her funny Roscommon sayings And even though I’m happy for her I kind of wish that she was staying She’s going back to Templemore, where it all began But this time she will be the one making the lesson plans I have no doubt she’ll be great at it, Denise is an able dame But she’ll have to stock up on the Cod liver oil – she has problems with her brain! She loves to go on holidays but she’s not great at the logistics If you get her to book a holiday I wouldn’t be too optimistic She might book two hotels and then somehow end up with no bed Or a break for Paddy’s Day but instead of March it’ll be in Feb! She won’t show her face without the war paint first I’ve gotten a glimpse of her once or twice, in fairness she’s not the worst! She has a house in Letterkenny, don’t apply unless you’re from the west She puts signs up for her tenants if there are issues that need to be addressed! She likes to go running or go to the gym It cancels out the Four Star Pizzas and the vodkas and gin! She has never been to a concert of any kind But if you bring up industrial relations she will surely speak her mind! Soon she’ll speed away in the red Audi like a bat out of hell I’ll miss our chats and banter, I’m getting teary eyed – FML! The college of knowledge will never be the same, I hope they are prepared I can’t wait to hear all the stories, I’m sure they’ll be totes hilare!

Plain & Simple Simple things are the best, like a strong cup of tea Or a visit from a friend that you don't often get to see A laugh that starts as a giggle but then makes your stomach ache Just about getting the train that you didn't think you'd make A chat with someone new who you never spoke to before Who makes you think about things that you previously chose to ignore When someone lets you offload without making you feel like you're wasting their time The excitement at the thoughts of Friday even though it's only Monday at nine An unexpected lie in must go on the list An autumn evening dip when the sea is covered in mist Getting one of those hugs that feels like it was really meant The satisfaction derived from putting up your own tent The smell that reminds you of a certain person or a time in the past A song that makes you smile at the thought of when you heard it last The memories in your heart that nobody can take away The thoughts of someone that cheers you up when you're having a bad day All free but easy to forget in the daily grind The simple things can be amazing when you bring them all to mind A cup of tea, a good laugh and a hug are up there for me If someone was to ask, what would be your top three?

Congrats to Padraig and Anne, I heard it was a great day on Friday! Best of luck for the future xx ❤️❤️ It started in Santa Ponsa as a holiday romance And eight years later they got engaged in France And now I’m standing here today as their best man To tell the untold story of Padraig and his wife Anne Padraig is my younger brother so I’ve known him all his life And believe me when I say he did well to get a wife Padraig is very laid back, he’s just that type of guy He couldn’t get worked up even if he tried Padraig is the middle child, he’s no.3 of five And we all knew that home would never be the same once he arrived He's what you'd call a gas man, he has his own unique perfume He's not the person you'd want to get stuck with in an unventilated room Like I said before, Padraig did well to get Anne She’s kind, smart and funny, he’s a very lucky man He likes to make out that he’s the boss but we all know that’s not true Padraig works better when he’s being told what to do He works in Aldi and it suits him down to the ground He’s all about spending less and carefully watching the pounds He’s also the proud owner of Ireland’s dirtiest car And every year he thinks Cavan will win big, they’ve proven him wrong so far Apart from all I’ve mentioned above he’s not a bad lad He turned out pretty decent thanks to our Mam and Dad He’s good craic on a night out and Anne is the same And he’s a great godfather to Sinéad’s little boy James We’re very happy to welcome Anne to the family, she’ll be a great addition She has worked hard on her career & she’s a woman with great ambition She loves set dancing & Scór and she plays the bodhrán And she loves a night out, she’s been known to party till dawn She loves Hit the Diff and she likes a brandy or 3 And after that 3rd brandy she gives life coaching for free All joking aside these two are a really great couple They’re very happy together and they keep each other out of trouble To sum up I want to raise a glass to Padraig and Anne, the newlyweds I hope you have good health, fun and laughter in all the years ahead If I could offer Anne just one recommendation Always make sure to take a look before you change the station

The Beech House Gifts that were picked especially for you They’re not exactly old but they’re not entirely new They will grow to great heights, they come from where you were born And years from now they will shelter the corn They will be there through all weathers, winter and spring And in the mornings they will house the birds while they sing When you look out your window in days to come You’ll see a bit of home growing in the Corragh sun Sown in 2014, they could last forever The same age as your first child, they will grow up together And when Michael is older and starts taking chances He will climb up their barks, and swing from their branches Your new home is here, it’s now where you belong But it’s nice to have reminders of where you came from These beech trees will remind you as they tower overhead That they come from a place called The Grove near the shed

In honour of the one and only Ms Orla Mullally who will be a married woman this time tomorrow... Much love and happiness to you and Ciaran🎉🎊 So here we all are to celebrate with Orla on the weekend of her hen This long legged mare from Hortland has broken the hearts of many men She was always a favourite with the punters around Kildare and Meath They could tell that she wasn’t built for comfort.. Mullally was built for pure speed As a filly she pawed the ground in places like The Wells and the Bees Knees But there was never anyone she liked enough to ask them home for toast and tea All this time there was a boy on the same circuit who was also in her school Ciaran Collins was biding his time and, as ever, he was playing it cool Then one night in Dublin they randomly met and he knew it was time to make a play So when she asked him in for some light refreshments he declined and walked away And while Orla was left to wonder if she had appeared too forward or cocky Ciaran knew he had her on the hook – he was no amateur jockey So although she first thought that this Meath man was another non-runner They got together a few days later and they’ll get married this summer Jury Duty may be special but he must come 2nd to a wife A horse might make you money but it won’t keep you warm at night!

Happy Birthday to a very special 79 year old! You taught me that you see more of the world when you drive slow You told me a secret isn’t a secret if more than one person knows You drove me to games that were sometimes miles away You gave brutally honest feedback on how you thought we played You taught me to stand at the gaps when bringing in the sheep You didn’t ever rat me out when I should have been asleep You terrorised me by chasing me with a dead mouse You promised me if I end up single you will leave me the house! You stand and give instructions when I cut the grass You like to reminisce about the way things were in the past You taught me to change a tyre and you tell me to always have a spare You reckon the most dangerous ball is a high one into the square You passed on to me your inability to make a quick decision You get defensive when I say that you watch too much television You always remind me to check my car to make sure there’s oil & water You claim that you don’t mind having just one son and 6 daughters! You taught me how to foot the turf during summers in the bog And when the work was over you showed me where to look for frogs You’re very easy to talk to except when you’re in bad form! Your mood is usually dependent on how the footballers have performed You’re very economical with your words when sending me a text And the World Wide Web leaves you more than a little perplexed You taught me that a sense of humour is a very useful tool You taught me plenty of things that I couldn’t have learned at school You don’t force your opinion but you always give sound advice You don’t like any foreign foods like peppers, pasta or rice! You were the first person to teach me that the perfect man does not exist! You told me I should pack my bags if I come across one who raises his fist You told me that if a promise is made it must be followed through You showed me that superglue and thickness can fix a broken shoe You might not be as mobile as you’d like to be But you’re still above the ground and that’s all that matters to me!

For Noelle & Johnny.. Congrats again and enjoy the honeymoon😍😍 Our team mate Noelle Earley ties the knot today I hope someone has informed poor Aidan O'Shea! We already know that Noelle looks great in bán go léir But today instead of a jersey she will have a different white to wear! Noelle is the only dual player we have on our team She has perfected how to get the best from both training regimes She'll make it to the two training sessions if she's in the mood But she'll finish off with the footballers because they have nicer food! As a player she is admired for her determination & strength of will The famous dummy sidestep has become her trademark skill! Noelle is very even tempered and never loses her cool... She gets on great with referees 'coz she always plays by the rules! We've gotten to know Johnny over the last few years Especially after last years final when we enjoyed a few beers We found out about his missing teeth and his concern for refugees And his romantic proposal over a picnic in Central Park, NYC We will play Galway in championship on the 25th June Johnny on that day we better not see you wearing any maroon! Noelle's family has both Roscommon and Tipperary roots But there's only one county she represents when she laces up her tattered boots There are rumours about her conduct when she first arrived on the county scene About smoking down the back of the bus and this was at Under 14! We've stories from Swifts, the Court and CP's but we don't tell tales on our team So we won't mention the jersey she stole toward the end of 2015! From all of your team mates we wish you and Johnny all the best in life Don't forget that county duties are as important as those of a wife! And while we're on the subject there's the unspoken rule to remember No little surprises until after the 2nd Sunday in September!

The Good Old Irish Summer😎😎 There’s a distant sound of a lawn mower & the smell of freshly cut grass The balers are causing traffic delays - Summer is here at last! It could only last for a day, it might break at the weekend We better plan a BBQ, who knows when we’ll get this weather again The midges are eating us alive & the heat rashes are breaking out The Summer clothes are resurrected and Mr Whippy is out and about The poor dog can’t handle it, she’s panned out in the shade The weeds are growing by the second, they’re gonna have to be sprayed The 99 machines are under pressure & the queues are out the door The warnings about sunburn will, as usual, be ignored There’ll be scalded heads tomorrow & the red marks will be criss-crossed “I only went out for a few minutes and I accidentally dozed off” The new tar on the road is bubbling, this must be the hottest day yet Instead of showering to get warm we’re showering away the sweat We can sleep with the windows open and only a sheet on the bed We won’t send the kids to school tomorrow, we’ll go to the bog instead When the weather is like this we could stay at training for hours We do the crossbar challenge & penalties before we hit the showers You’d be sick if you booked this week to go away to Spain It’ll probably start raining again the minute you step off the plane The tourists are all confused, they brought warm clothes for the week They want to get wear out of the Aran jumpers..those things are far from cheap The poor hay fever sufferers are in an awful way They're in and out to the chemist every second day This weather is great and all but what if we have a drought? It’d be an absolute disaster if the water in the well runs out It doesn’t suit the pale Irish when it’s this sunny outside How can we go about our business when we’re all being baked alive There’s no doubt about it though, everyone looks better in the sun And the beer gardens are full of those who only came out for “one” We’ll just be getting used to it when those familiar clouds will appear There goes our week long Summer, that's it now 'til next year!

Hope Against Hope We know each other well, we're meant to be a team But we seem to have different ideas about what that word means Don't let yourself be defeated by doubt, it's a weed that can strangle and kill You have the power to defeat it, all you're missing is the will Our window of time is small, please don't let it go to waste By over thinking and analysing, yet making decisions in haste Before you speak any more words to me make sure they are sincere I'd prefer to hear the truth now than to feel let down at the end of the year You are the one I can't live without and I really hate that that's the case You've made one too many false promises and now I can't look you in the face I'm tired of saying this to you so I'll just write the words down instead It feels better to have them here instead of causing havoc in my head When we get to the end of our journey I hope to look back and say We had our ups and downs but we made it at the end of the day You have so much to give but it's a decision only you can make I'm choosing to back you, I just hope we haven't left it too late
