L.J.D Racing & Equestrian is a purpose built facility situated on 80 acres specializing in race horse training, breaking and schooling horses & livery. Lorcan Donnelly is a fully licenced trainer in both codes. With 25 years experience in the racing indusrty 20 of which spent as a National Hunt jockey both amatuer and professional he boasts an impressive C.V. He began his career in 1987 from there he moved to the UK in 1989 working under Mary Reevley as an amatuer jockey & progressed to to become her assistant trainer.His love of race riding lead him to the yard of Sue Smith in 1994 where he worked as her conditional jockey and once again gained a position as assistant trainer there. From 1997-1998 he became a freelance professional jockey riding for some of the best known trainers in the UK. In 1998 he decided to return to his homeland of Ireland returning to amatuer jockey status & rode here as an amatuer until 2007. The decision to retire from race riding was not made lightly however he had been training point 2 point horses since 2003 with great success and decided to persue a training career. In May 2009 he became a fully licenced trainer and quickly made his mark with winners on the track despite only having a handful of horses in training. L.J.D Racing & Equestrian is a purpose built facility situated on 80 acres which specializes in race horse training & pre-training aswell as breaking and schooling horses in all disciplines. The stabling comprises of 28 modern stables spread over 2 american barns, with a stable barn dedicated to livery services of the highest standard. Adjacent to each stable barn is a lunge ring & rubber floored horse walker which are surrounded by well fenced paddocks. Use of the steep uphill grass gallop is also available all year round. We are surrounded by miles of quiet roads close to Brittas Bay & forestry for hacking, a real escape from the hustle & bustle and only 2km from the N11 for easy access to main routes. Security includes electric gates, CCTV & staff living on premises.
