NUI Galway Innovation explores and facilitates commercial opportunities for the research community at NUI Galway. The Ignite Technology Transfer Eco-System visualises the process of commercialisation through collaboration of Industry and Academia. The Ignite TTO Office is on-hand every step of the way, providing expert assistance and valuable advice.

The Ignite TTO offers supports for:
- Investors
- Industry
- Researchers

Within the Business Innovation Centre (BIC) of the TTO the aim is to create an environment which promotes entrepreneurialism and innovation, enhance spin out formation and new business growth. The centre gives companies prime opportunity to benefit from the first class facilities available in NUI Galway.

The Ignite TTO in NUI Galway is also in partnership with Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, the Institute of Technology, Sligo and Letterkenny Institute of Technology to form the Ignite West Consortium where we pool our resources to work on joint initiatives and communication to enhance the opportunities available.

Following John joining our team last week, we are also delighted to welcome another new member to the commercialisation team. Dr Adam Collins, is an NUI Galway graduate with a degree in applied physics and a PhD in photonics. Following his PhD completion, Adam spent some time exploring the commercial feasibility of a patented laser scribing process and will now be supporting our Science and Engineering community in the University. Dr Jacinta Thornton, Associate Director of the Tech Transfer Office says “Great to see Adams enthusiasm and energy has brought him around the world travelling and back to his alma matter of NUI Galway to continue his commercial focus” The team look forward to working with you Adam.

We are delighted to welcome John McSweeney to the Technology Transfer Office Commercialisation team of NUI Galway. John will take up the role of Commercialisation Executive in the Engineering and Medtech space and comes with over 20 years’ experience in consumer electronics, telecommunications and automotive industries. He holds a B.Eng (Electrical/Electronic) and an M.Eng Sc in Power Electronic from UCC. Vast experience in software development, project management, system engineering, commercialisation and protection of IP ranging from Start up’s to MNC. John a keen sportsman looks forward to being part of the next generation of commercial outputs from the strong Engineering & Biomedical research being conducted in NUI Galway today. The team looks forward to working with you John.
