This chimney has been leaking for years and the home owner has been living with damp and mouldy walls. As part of a roof inspection, I inspected the chimney to find the cause of the water ingress. To my surprise I found five number washer steel nails inserted into the lead at the back and side of the chimney. This is the cause of the leaking chimney. The home owner was convinced that the leak could not be found and the chimney would have to demolished. Thankfully this is not the case.
