Great success for GKC this weekend at the Irish National Kendo Championship: Daniel Nunn blasted it in his first ever national tournament, and Daniel Mulcahy took second place in the Ambassadors Cup. The two Dans have done themselves proud! :) Thank you as ever to Dublin Kendo Kobukai and the Embassy of Japan in Ireland. It is by your efforts that this event continues to inspire.

The Autumn Seminar is behind us. As usual, Delepiere sensei imparted an image of correct kendo through poetic imagery, an unrivalled sense of humour and beautiful form. The grading was a massive success, with all Galway candidates passing. Well done, guys! You continue to outdo yourselves. I would like to thank sensei for coming to Ireland once again; all visitors from abroad for their friendship and advice; all participants from around the isle; and especially Kathryn and Martin for your tireless work and enthusiasm. Until we meet again!

The World Kendo Championships are a week behind us, and the jet lag is just starting to fade. Thank you to all supporters of Irish Kendo near and far. Your encouragement means the world. Much gratitude to the organisers at the FIK and KKA for pulling together an event of epic scope. Thank you especially to the Squad Management: Kathryn Cassidy, Martin Kiosew, Dirk Jan Bakker, Maude and Rob. We couldn't do what we do without your herculean efforts. Lastly, all of my love to my fellow competitors - Sophie, Kathryn, Mihailo, Raul, Szymon and John. Let's keep each other sharp. Rei, Dan

It was another fabulous Irish National Championship this Sunday past - thank you so much to Cork Budokai for your hospitality and organisation! GKC showed a brave face, with beginner Sidney taking fighting spirit in her category and participating in her first shiai against some rather large opponents :) Until next year!
