Lower Back Ache? Be Active and Wait It Out, New Guidelines Say
The medical industry is ever changing! Latest research & reports are all leading to the general theory that MRI scans are pretty much a waste of time when it comes to general lower back pain. The article below by the NY Times suggests that physicians in the USA now agree that lower back pain is as common as a cold and thus should be treated with a similar approach. Doctors are suggesting that your physical therapist should be your first port of call if you were to suffer from lower back pain. Along with taking over the counter ibuprofen or aspirin, they find that patients suffering from lower back pain usually find they have improved without getting a MRI or taking prescription drugs. Bottom line: If you are not experiencing neural symptoms in the area or referred symptoms in either leg, have not suffered or are suffering from a serious illness n'or experiencing night pain then it is suggested that you "wait it out", take some OTC medication and make an appointment with your physio. All good advice in my opinion 🙂👍🏼 Have a read ⬇️
