Ballybane Community Organic Garden
Description
The garden is located on the Castlepark Road in Ballybane, nearby landmarks are Ballybane Library and St Brigid's church. The garden is located on Castlepark Rd Ballybane, across from the church and library. Volunteers open and work in the garden on thursdays from 10am till lunchtime. In the summer the garden is open 1 evening a week. In March 2012 the garden will be open on saturday afternoons.
The garden is run by a volounteer committee with assistance from a community development worker and a VEC tutor.
The garden is 3/4 acre in size with 2 polytunnels, meeting room, shelter where we have the tea, pergola which contains a clay oven and barbecue.
We run the garden on organic principles and do not use any sprays or chemicals. We use seaweed as a fertiliser.
The garden is funded by Galway City Council, VEC, HSE West and Galway City Partnership
