MISS EARTH 2016 Returns to the Philippines After winning MISS EARTH 2016 in the Philippines last October 29, 2016, Katherine Espin of Ecuador returns to the Philippines once again to continue her work in advocating the preservation and protection of the environment to address Climate Change, promote Eco Tourism and good health. The reigning environmental queens of Miss Philippines -Earth and Eco tourism 2016 shall join her in this journey. Welcoming Katherine on her arrival on January 21 is Miss Philippines Earth 2016, Loren Mar Artajos who will be with her in the first part of their environmental trip on January 23. Katherine and Loren will be received by the warm hospitality of the Provincial Government of Isabela through Gov. Faustino “Bodjie” Dy III and Vice-Gov. Antonio “Tonypet” Albano, where they will be the official guests at the opening of the Agro-Ecotourism exhibit, Bambanti Village, Provincial Capitol, City of Iligan. On January 24, both ‘beauties for a cause’ will make an official visit to the restored virgin beaches in Palanan for eco tourism promotional activities. They shall be given a tour of the Eco-Fuel Agro-Industrial Plant, San Mariano Isabela and Sta. Victoria Green Sanctuary, City of Iligan on January 25. The queens shall engage in Tree Planting at Iligan’s Sindun Bayabo together with the community on the next day. Famous for putting up scarecrows to protect their crops, the people hold a parade of scarecrow displays every year called the BAMBANTI KINGS & QUEENS where different groups compete in a colorful and exciting showdown of the best presentation. Katherine and Loren will be guest judges in this two-day fiesta. Upon Katherine’s return to Manila, the eco queens of Miss Philippines Earth 2016 will join her in “I Love My Planet Earth” school tours of the Miss Earth Foundation to educate youngsters about the preservation of the environment. She will continue this message of environmental awareness in her events with other organizations, TV appearances and radio guestings in Manila. She will be flying to Ilocos Sur on February 1 with Melanie Mader, Miss Philippines Earth ECO TOURISM 2016, to be with the Ilocanos’ Town Fiesta activities where the people celebrate their environmental prosperity. Then on February 21 she flies to Isabela once more with Miss Philippines Earth ECO TOURISM 2016, Melanie Mader to assist in Isabela’s Medical Mission activities which provides medical care for the good health of the people until the 25th. Katherine’s environmental undertaking in the Philippines shall continue until March 16 when she returns to her home in Ecuador. Katherine clearly stated, “The responsibility of preserving the environment should be taken seriously. I would continue to campaign on the implementation of environmental education in schools.”
