Welcome to Mc Ateers The Food House, come visit our Gourmet Food Shop, Deli & Restaurant in the centre of Dundalk We have been in the service business our entire adult lives. Service is where it all starts and ends. I rate service as much as the produce in a shop or restaurant.
After years of working and running other peoples businesses and serving people in the air!!! We opened Mash Café & Restaurant in Rathmines, Dublin. Though a very non restaurant area, through hard work, great service and food, we gave it our all became a local success. We got some great reviews over the years with Mash not least my favourite “The Friendliest Duo In Ireland” by The Lonely Planet Guide.
We know what we like, good food, good craic and great people.
The Food House is a concept of old and new. Old, as in old Irish with everything under one roof. New, as in downtown New York. We not only wanted to design a relaxed and inviting spot to shop and have a bite, we also wanted to work hard on sourcing really good basic produce, fresh and local where possible with no additives but pure goodness. We barely know the taste or recognize what we are eating nowadays. This is what we are endeavouring to change with our Food House.
We have a simple but very tasty menu in our Restaurant with a huge choice of wines and beers, organic fair trade coffee & loose tea. Our desserts from our own pastry chef are a must. We also have a great choice to take home or order online from our Delicatessen. Our grocery shop stocks all your basics and some new ideas with organic vegetables and freshly baked breads.

JUICE DETOX DAY 2 Second day of our juice detox & the going is getting a little tough. However all runners & riders are still going strong so let’s hope there are no fallers as we go into day 3. Fantastic thing to do as the benefits for your body & indeed mind are wonderful. END OF AN ERA For all of you who shop in Country Fresh it is Bronaghs last day. After 22 years she has decided to move on to bigger & better things—hopfully!! Even though she is a total dose I know we are all gonna miss her in the shop. But we wish her all the best for the future. I remember the first time she sold me a bunch of bananas!!!!! JUICE DETOX PROGRAM So next Tuesday we starting a 3 DAY juice detox. Some of us here have done it a few times & now with our juice bar up & running we are able to offer it to any of you fools who feel brave enough to give it a go. We can only do 10 people at a time & it was all booked but 2 people have dropped out - think they got a little nervous- so we have 2 spaces left for this detox starting Tuesday There’s no doubt it is tough but I think if you are in the right frame of mind it really is great for your body. Of course it is good for you physically & you will definitely loose a few pounds ( Caroline lost 7 lb last time we done it ) but honestly for me this is not the main objective. It is just so good to give your body a rest & the benefits for your mind are endless. So if anyone interested get in touch & I will go through the details. If you a little unsure just look at me.
