Have you noticed your dog or cat scratching their ears or shaking their head a lot lately? It is possible they may have ear mites, which are a tiny mite that infects the ear canal, causing irritation and inflammation. They can be transmitted from infected animals, so if one pet has them it is quite likely that any other pets in the household will have them too. They are, thankfully, easily treated with ear drops, so if you suspect your pet may have them please call us to arrange an appointment so our vets can examine the ears and arrange a course of treatment as soon as possible!

We cannot stop our pets from getting older, but we can help delay the signs of ageing by good management and regular health checks. The average dog or cat is classed as senior at 9 years of age, so they obviously require more frequent trips to the vet to ensure any developing issues are taken care of as soon as possible. Advances in veterinary medicines and diet allow us to provide your pet with up to date treatments and preventative healthcare ensuring comfortable and pain free senior years. If your senior pet has not visited a vet in some time, please call us to arrange a checkup as soon as possible on 042-93-39648.

With four out of ten Irish pets being classified as “overweight”, the issue of excessive nutrition and not enough exercise is having serious repercussions for Irish animal health and welfare. Many people don’t even know that their pets are too plump: fat pets are so common that people are beginning to think that an animal that is a normal shape is “too thin”. If you are unsure if your pet is overweight, please stop by for a free weight check at our clinic, where we can advise you on appropriate nutrition and exercise requirements for your pet. Our obesity clinic is from 9-5 Monday to Friday.
