By a strange twist of fate I have clawed back my beautiful treatment space in the cabin at Dunbeacon Durrus in West Cork. Anyone who knows this space will understand what a blessing this is. I refitted the stove and have begun working anew in this magic healing temple. Gratitude to strange twists and welcome back!

For all of you who love my clinic in west cork, the beautiful temple space 'the cabin' I am very sorry to inform you that it will be closing as of 8th April due to the house and land being sold. I am moving to a location near Ballydehob and am working on a solution for creating a new treatment space. In the meantime, anyone who wishes to avail of the beautiful Cabin space needs to do so before then. Last chance for booking! Sally Xxx

Here's a more detailed description of what I do in my massage practise: My approach is holistic in the truest sense of the word: the physical body is a not separate entity from the whole person and everything that has happened to you. Emotional trauma, shock or stress is stored in the muscle memory, just as physical trauma affects the emotional and mental states. My practice involves working with muscle groups to relieve tension in them in both chronic and acute representation. I use a combination of styles incorporating gentle soothing strokes to warm the muscle, then moving on to deep tissue work consistent with techniques of William Reich and Swedish massage. This method of bodywork involves working closely with feedback from the client so that pressure levels are determined by you so as not to traumatise or injure the muscle. Tension in the muscle is reduced and released with the aid of conscious breathing so that the emotional body and the physiology connect and benefit simultaneously. Myo-fascial connective tissue is also worked on during slow deep tissue massage. Incorporated into my treatments are techniques from Shiatsu accupressure and reflexology to support healthy energy flow through meridians, organs and chakras. Lymphatic drainage techniques also support the flushing of toxins from the body. Passive limb movements stretch both muscles and nerves to encourage joint flexibility, and rocking and pulsing movements encourage a feeling of safety and relaxation. This is also encouraged with guided meditation and visualisations where appropriate. I now also offer an incredible 'Pelvic liberation massage' working deeply on the psoas muscle attachments around the iliac crest and the groin areas. This is intimate but can be carried out with underwear worn if preferred as there is no genital touch. It is an area that benefits hugely from release work both physically and emotionally. Most massage steers away from this much neglected often traumatised region. ❤

The Muscle Massage Training day was a pleasure to teach today. Really enjoyed myself. Thanks to all who showed up. Let's do some more in the new year. Watch this space! I'll make sure the event page is a public not a private event next time as I think several people were unable to see the event.

After receiving my first professional full body massage 25 years ago I felt so euphoric that I decided there and then to train as a masseur. I wanted to give that experience to others! I trained initially at the Lam Rim Buddhist Centre with the Bristol School of Massage, UK. My training was unusual in that there was a spiritual and energetic element to the physical work. This has informed my philosophy throughout; that the physical body cannot be separated from the emotional, energetic and psychological aspects of a person. My style has developed over the years and is constantly changing. I am renowned for the wide range of touch that I incorporate into a treatment from deep pressure through to subtle energy work. For me massage is a silent dialogue between client and therapist where the client must feel 'met' by a fully present therapist. In this way each treatment is unique; a meditation of muscle and mind to encourage the whole person to relax and let go. Touch is a language of its own, an essential form of communication that is as individual as it is diverse. A massage is an intimate 'meeting' designed to induce deep relaxation. The method to achieving that necessarily varies from client to client.
