www.dlbhs.com The first lecture was held in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire on Tuesday 20th June, 1978. The title of the lecture was, “An Evening of Local History”, given by Dr. J. E Gowan. This lecture proved to be so popular that 160 squeezed into the old “Connaught Room”, and another 40 people were turned away. The following week the lecture was repeated to another packed house, and thus the Society was born.
All lectures take place in the Kingston Hotel, Adelaide Street, Dun Laoghaire, at 8.00 p.m. on a Wednesday.

Saturday 9th July – ANNUAL OUTING – This year we will have guided tours of the magnificent Slane Castle and the Irish Military War Museum where you can handle original weapons, visit a replica WW1 trench & see a blank firing weapons display. We will also have a guided tour of Collon C of I, designed by amateur architect Rev Daniel Beaufort, learn about the Russians from Collon & visit the obelisk-topped monument commemorating 2nd Lieutenant James Samuel Emerson VC. The cost includes coach, all entrance fees & guided tours, tea/coffee break and dinner in the evening. Full cost €55:00 - deposit of €20:00 non-refundable to secure your place on the trip.
