Under two new Government Schemes, the REPAIR AND LEASING SCHEME and the BUY AND RENEW SCHEME, funding is available to Peter McVerry Trust to get long term empty properties back into the housing system. Last week Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone, put on the Dail record the work of Peter McVerry Trust in securing ring-fenced funding that will ensure housing pathways for young people leaving State care.
Calcutta Run 2017
Today is the last day to register for the Calcutta Run and cycle. All entrants wishing to take part should follow the link to calcuttarun.com and sign up before 6pm (18:00) this evening. Thank you to everyone who is taking part and we will see you all there this coming Saturday.
Rob Strong & Don Baker - Saturday 20th May
Irish blues musician, television personality, and actor, Don Baker, has written a song about the plight of people experiencing homelessness and has very kindly decided to donate all of the proceeds to support the work of Peter McVerry Trust. A massive thank you to Don and all involved in the launch. The song is currently on the LMFM radio playlist and the song will be launched this Saturday night at 8pm (20:00) in Baker's Loft at Brogans Bar & Guesthouse, High Street, Trim, Co Meath, during a special gig with Rob Strong. Tickets for the show are available at ticketstop.ie. There will also be an auction, where Don will be donating one of his electric guitars, in aid of Peter McVerry Trust.
Smart initiative by Peter McVerry Trust breathes new life into vacant city homes
Peter McVerry Trust's work to "breathe new life into Dublin city by renovating buildings that are already there – and have been derelict for years" was covered by The Irish Times. We are also appealing to owners of currently vacant properties to make contact with us to discuss how we could bring your empty home back into use, as outlined in the IT piece.
