facebook.comToday marks the centenary of the death of former Irish Parliamentary Party leader, John Redmond. This portrait of Redmond by Sir John Lavery will be included in our upcoming exhibition, ‘Amanda Dunsmore: Keeper’, alongside its pair, that of Redmond’s political opponent Sir Edward Carson. Lavery completed the portraits in 1916 on the condition – agreed with the sitters – that they would be jointly presented to the Dublin gallery. Lavery’s works provide a historical precedent for the visual equality implicit in Dunsmore’s videos portraits, such as those of John Hume and David Trimble which feature in the upcoming exhibition. ‘Amanda Dunsmore: Keeper’ will be open from 10 April (the twentieth anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement) to 22 July 2018. #JohnRedmond #Keeper
