We had the pleasure of attending a Superstar Heroes Lunch at Woodie's Lucan store last week, celebrating the fantastic success of the campaign in 2017 and to recognise some of the amazing Woodie's staff who went above and beyond to make the campaign as successful as it was. Thanks to the generosity of all at Woodie's, their suppliers and customers, the Woodie's Heroes campaign raised €275,000 for four Irish children's charities this year. At the event, we were presented with the cheque for Temple Street Foundation, totalling an incredible €68,750. Thank you so much Woodie's - you have been amazing!

Well done to the 'Super Dad' Team, who collectively raised an amazing €9290 recently by taking on the Hell & Back Challenge. Thank you so much from all of us here in Temple Street! Team Leader and Super Dad Jim Egan says, “For me personally it has been a huge thrill to have been allowed fundraise for what in my eyes is the future of our country – our children. I can speak for all the lads who took part and say that we not only enjoyed the fundraising, but we had some of the best craic ever as we laughed our way around the course. The thoughts of the money we raised actually helping sick children is what made the pain element of the day worthwhile, and we reflect back on the day with a certain amount of pride.”

We are so proud of Brian Bolger who took on the Earth's Edge Kilimanjaro Challenge for Temple Street! Not only did he climb this iconic mountain but he managed to raise an amazing €21,230 for our very special hospital. Big thanks to all who supported Brian along the way. Brian says, "I took on climbing Kilimanjaro as a personal challenge and to raise some money for charity, having chosen Temple Street Children's University Hospital being a very worthy cause with the great work they do caring for our precious little ones. Although this was a tough mental and physical challenge, it was one of the best experiences of my life. If everyone does a little for charity the world will be a better place."

John is running the Dublin Marathon for Temple Street and he wanted to share with you why it means so much to him: "On July 8th, 2015, our 3rd child, Ben was born. On day one, all the giddy rellies snuck in to get a squeeze of Ben and marvel at such a tiny human only a few hours old in the world. We were elated, but this elation soon turned to shock with it was discovered that Ben was extremely sick, was not breathing correctly and was really struggling to fight what we later learned to be a very serious E.coli blood infection. One baby in every 3000 gets this so this was a rare event,. We were quickly transferred to Temple Street and this is where we stayed for 19 long days and nights as we watched over his every breath, twitch and finger squeeze. On the odd occasion, we would leave the hospital, it is a very strange experience to witness the world just moving on as your world is frozen still. The care and attention he received in Temple Street was just amazing. The work that these nurses, doctors and all the support staff do is outstanding, under-rated and humbling to witness. Ben just turned two years old there a few weeks ago and it was then that I decided that it would be a great thing to try and give something back to the people and place that really helped us get through the hardest time of our lives. So this is why I am running the Dublin Marathon- will you join me?" www.templestreet.ie/event/dublin-marathon/ready
