***SPRING SEASONAL SALE - 30% OFF SELECTED RANGES*** We're still trying to recover from the schedule disruptions of Storm Emma, so I don't have time for an earthy, everyman, lightly profane sales pitch on pieces I need to convert into filthy lucre. Boxcar Shelving Units: You want them, I make them, I'm currently making them cheap, come get them.

***RESUMPTION OF SCHEDULE*** The snow is starting to melt but unfortunately, while we would have no problem getting to the workshop, getting back out again up them there hills is a suicide mission. Business as usual at Barrell & Gunn will resume on Tuesday 6th of March, whereupon we will begin to start sorting the tattered and slushy remnants of our schedule for building, collections and deliveries. The extra sleep was great, but after five days of Netflix and Chill (more the literal than the figurative - I'm married) I'm more than ready to get back to work. Things I won't miss: 1) Queuing for groceries like they were tickets to Bob Dylan's farewell gig; 2) Having my FitBIt FatShame me halfway through a Lord of the Rings marathon (yes, including The Hobbit trilogy); 3) Listening to my wife loudly recite the entire soundtrack of The Greatest Showman on repeat since Tuesday. Hugh Jackman and his Bearded Lady can f**k off.

***SUSPENSION OF SCHEDULE*** Due to current weather conditions (and the fact that my jeep nearly ended up in someone's living room earlier today while attempting to get to the workshop), all building, collections, deliveries, site-meetings and consultations are hereby suspended until further notice. Upside: There's not much I can do other than admin so anyone waiting on a quote, invoice, update etc. will likely get it in the next 24-48 hours. All work and no play makes Homer something something...

There is most definitely an upside to being snowed out of the workshop...

This could be The Fear making me sentimental (I welled up earlier at an ad for pensions and had a panic attack when I couldn't find the socks I wanted) but it seems like a shrewd investment in karma to give a few shouts out to my industry besties. When I started Barrell & Gunn, there were vast, VAST volumes of stuff I didn't know and even vaster (yes, 'vaster') volumes I didn't yet know I didn't know. There are few experiences that will make you feel as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool than reaching the top of the queue at a suppliers' trade counter when you don't quite know what it is you're looking for. I swear to God I still have PTSD moments where I'm all of a sudden back standing at a chest-high counter, trying in vain to explain what I need to a man who looks like he wouldn't even dignify me with a closed fist when he eventually hits me. In these waking nightmares, I sometimes look over my shoulder into the sea of scorn and rolling eyes of men who actually have shit to do and realise where I learned the skill of lip-reading the words 'fuck sake' from across a crowded stadium. Now I myself am one of the grubby, grumpy, eye-rolling proles - imbued with the righteous disdain of one who knows the difference between a toggle bolt and a spring anchor - but the aforementioned PTSD does tend to make me acutely appreciative of polite and helpful staff. This week's shout-out goes to Pro-Weld - my favourite suppliers for pretty much everything I use in production of the steel element of my furniture. The staff are so sound that it almost has to be chemically-induced and I've yet to ask for even the most obscure product or piece of equipment that they didn't bend over backwards to get for me. Their pricing is also pretty keen, which helps. I should probably stress here that I do not now, nor have I ever, taken money, gratuities or engaged in paid endorsements. That being said - Paul, I better get some free shit for this.
