Castleknock College Union
Description
St. Vincent's Castleknock College - Alumni news. We are the boys of SVC and a loyal bunch that's true "We all delight to go back in thought to the scenes of boyhood. The associations and friendships of youth and the events to which they were a setting make up our sweetest memories. We are interested in those who with us in youth lived the same life, formed one body. Even those not of our own day, who lived in olden times or who are of a more modern growth than ourselves are, have claims on our sympathetic regard by reason of their being subjected to similar influences, tinctured by the same spirit and tutored in the same moral atmosphere. Children of Alma Mater, sharing in memories of a common past, and inheriting the same noble traditions we feel as if the bond of fellowship uniting us had something sacred in it, and that to strengthen and perpetuate it is not only a pleasure but also a duty."

JCT are Plate Champions Captain Ian Birmingham led his team to a fantastic 17-10 victory over rivals Roscrea in Donnybrook. Despite Adam Malone converting his own try, SVC trailed 10-7 at the break but didn’t waste any time getting into their stride in the second half. Tries from the outstanding Jake Rooney and Conor Dunne set up a tense final 10 minutes but Roscrea could not breach the SVC line and Knock were crowned Champions. Huge congratulations to all the players involved this year with a particular mention for Captain Ian Birmingham who led from the front throughout. Congratulations also to Mr Blaney, Niall Ronan and Mr Hurley.

The less famous International Rugby Dads! Heartiest congrats to Stephen Conway, class '79 whose son Andrew made his slam denying debut last saturday. http://www.the42.ie/andrew-conway-ireland-england-debut-3296100-Mar2017/ and no doubt his uncles John '80 and Joe '85 are just as proud. Andrew who went to Rock would be the second on the Irish team with a Knock Dad as Johnny Sexton who went to Mary's is son of none other than Jerry, class '75 and nephew of Willie '76 (who was also capped), John '79 and Ken '81. So with Devin Toner, Stephen and Jerry make some class of Knock trio!
