All the creativity in Ireland's national schools is never forgotten. I remember making those hanging lanterns when I went to primary school. I don’t think, with the pace technology moves at today, that in forty years they will be using cds to create art. Still though cool.

I don't suppose Kada Ka Boom Arts should have a favourite school when it comes to places the drums have been too. but... Walshestown National School has at the least, a special place in history. It was there that these drums made their very first appearance over 19 years ago. And on Monday we were back (and not for the first time). Staff have changed and moved on, buildings have developed and even one of the students back then was currently teaching a class there. The March of time. Amazing. In the pics are their schools creative ideas for flower pots. The Wellington Boots just look great, the wheel Barrow is great but the hand bag. Come on, this must be the best use of a handbag I've ever seen! And then theres Jim Griffin. His was the very first class that I ever facilitated all those years ago. A great man and great teacher. He has his principal hat on for the last few weeks of term and then, that's it. No more hats. He and his musicology shall leave the building for the last time. Next time you catch him he'll be playing in a session or singing a tune with friends. Best of luck Jim.

Kada Ka County Meath Arts. Kada Ka Boom Arts finds itself in that little bit of county Meath that gives it the honour of claiming itself to be a coastal county. Nestled in amongst its fields and hedges you’ll find Donacarney Boys National School. Juniors, Seniors, Seconds, a Third and a Sixth class are getting a couple of days for six weeks to take on the rhythms of Brazil and more. Then it’s off to the races and in county Meath that could have you in many places including a beach! In this case, its up the hill to Bellewstown national school where they who making the last six weeks of primary school 2016-17 a very rhythmical one. There’s work ahead of them but they are well ready to get the bit between their teeth as they gallop to the last month of term. www.kadakaboomarts.com

Scoil Mhuire | Girls' Primary School

The Arc, Children and Kada Ka Boom Arts. The Ark, Temple Bar Dublin, Ireland’s dedicated cultural centre for children was the home for Kada Ka Boom Arts today. There was a gathering of children from Ireland, Mayo, Cork, Wicklow, Monaghan, Dublin and more. They were being recognised for their imaginative efforts in the “Creative Schools Award”. Run in connection with Dublin West Education Center. There were many fantastic projects but my favourite was a production Scoil Mhuire Ballincollig. http://scoilmhuireballincollig.ie/ They chose to put on a production of Romeo and Juliet, but rather than place it all in the one space, they used all of the nooks and cranny’s of the school, inside and out. Parents found themselves moving from one space to another to catch the next part of the tail. I can only imaging the fun. Well done guys. As a treat for their hard work, Kada Ka Boom Arts was invited to generate a workshop they could ALL participate in together. Body groove territory. They were great and loved it all. Creative Education all round.
