Description
Hi my name is Carol Scanlon and I run CS Interior Design/Specialist furniture painting. I aim to transform clients homes at an affordable cost. I have always had a passion for interior design and after years of helping family and friends with their projects I decided to go into Interior Design full time. To back this up I completed a years intensive Interior Design/Architechure course in College of Commerce where I was awarded a Destinction in City of Cork VEC exams. I have also completed an advanced course in the art of furniture painting/waxing. I am a firm believer in upcycling existing furniture be it pine/mahogany etc as a lot of new coloured furniture nowadays are just lacquered, have no detail and just give a bland effect. My main aim is to help clients to transform their home ( or maybe just a room) in adding a sense of space through the use of colour, flooring and lighting which can have a dramatic effect on the whole look and feel of a home and of course decor and accessorises just bring the whole look together...

I am absolutely delighted and honoured to receive a nomination in "The Cork homes & Interiors Company of the year 2017" category for the Cork Business Awards 2017. Looking forward to a great night in Clayton Silversprings Hotel on November 4th. Carol x
Recent project completed: This is a beautiful semi detached family home that needed a new lease of life. We needed to make the most of the spacious extension and draw the eye to the magnificent garden area. The use of pendant lighting designated kitchen/dining areas. New flooring brightened up this large open plan room and added a sense of space. We used a colour palette of three colours to compliment each other. We painted doors leading to garden to get rid of orangey pine look and added garden window mirrors all done to bring the outdoors in. Radiator covers were then added to complete the whole look. Hope you like it, Carol x.
Love how this room was transformed into cosy lounge. Beautiful self build home but clients were looking at an empty lounge for two years! I created a focal point with a gorgeous rustic sideboard and as the home is located in the country I chose the artwork reflecting this. Roman blinds softened the look and grey/mustard rug added cosiness. I chose rustic round nest of tables and light fitting to compliment look and soften all rectangular lines. See what you think, hope you like! Carol x

Love how this kitchen turned out. I'm all about pendant lighting, especially in 3's project permitting, to create a focal point in room. In keeping with the current grey trend (but not to overdo it) kitchen cupboards are painted off white and the island unit painted grey. Granite worktop has a grey and beige pigment and the rustic door all add a sense of warmth. Finished off with bespoke high chairs. Hope you like, Carol x
One of my favourite looks at the moment, sideboard with two tall lamps and mirror make a great statement. Also the use of grey palette but softening the look with natural coloured lamps and rustic table. Great look don't you think? Carol x
Love how this bedroom turned and very easily achieved. One of my favourite colours to use for bedrooms is green as it instantly creates a relaxing, cosy athmosphere. The high headboard gives a feeling of luxury and canvas pictures and mirror at eye level create a stunning feature wall. Grey and white bed linen (incorporating grey trend of the moment) and grey and natural colour rug bring the whole look together. Hope you like, Carol x
