Sometimes I am asked to transcribe audio of a sensitive nature. These projects can be more mentally tiring, so it's important to take breaks and get away from the computer. Walking with the dog or listening to music are good alternatives :-)

I've nearly made it to the end of another busy week of transcription. I'm enjoying the variety of subject matters and working with new researchers. My typing speed is nothing amazing, but it is definitely improving, which can only be a good thing! I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

The majority of recordings that I transcribe for research purposes are interview conversations between two people. Today I have started transcribing a focus group, which is more complicated but a nice change. I think this is only the second one I've ever done. You can't beat a bit of variety and a bit of a challenge sometimes :-)

I've started a new transcription project this week. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to work with the Letterkenny Institute of technology again.

When people send me their audio files to be transcribed, I often don't know what to expect. There is a great variety of topics, and I am constantly learning new things. Of course all the information is always completely confidential, And something I never discuss with other people. I'll be working on three different research projects within the next month that couldn't be more different from each other! There's a popular saying that every day is a school day, and that is definitely true for me these days.

Some of the types of projects that I can transcribe are listed on the services section of this page, but I thought I'd put a reminder of them here: •interviews and conversations for research purposes •seminars and conferences •case studies •Business meetings •Material for websites •Radio interviews or podcasts •Transcripts of audio material, making it accessible to people who have a hearing impairment •Authors •People telling their own personal stories. Basically anybody who has voice recordings which they want converted to text, who finds typing too slow or too time-consuming, or simply just doesn't like doing it!
