Attention Zombies!! To start the Zombie Walk this year we are going to have a Zombie Dance performance…… we have a dance troupe lined up for the performance, but I'm wondering if anyone else is interested in joining in with them? I’ll be uploading some videos over the next few weeks, so that people can learn the moves but we are also going to arrange a rehearsal in the lead up to the walk for those that are available. Please comment below or Tag anyone that may be interested. The more the merrier!! I don’t want to give too much away but what we have planned will definitely be a first for Cork!! https://www.facebook.com/events/1709112686045699/
Trying to hit 500 likes on the Cork Zombie Walk page and I need help! I don't have access to the original page Lols set up for the Zombie Walk, so I had to start this page from scratch last year.....the original page had over 2K followers, but I had to abandon it as I couldn't give myself full admin rights to continue it. To put it into perspective, on this new page, if I hit 500 likes, it realistically means 50 people will see a post I put up, so unless I pay for a sponsored post each time, I'm getting nowhere.... More often than not the same people see each post. So I need help to share this page and encourage more people out of the comfort zones to transform just for one evening into a Zombie to take part in what was Lorraine's favourite event to organise. Cork Zombie Walk It takes two seconds to hit share on this post, and I do realise it may not be for everyone, but I would really appreciate any help at all building up this page. If your not interested in taking part in the walk, call into town just to check it out, or look through all the pictures on this page after the walk, it's amazing the effort people go to in order to transform into Zombies!! Thanks Katriona
It's all official! I can confirm that the Cork Zombie Walk will take place on Saturday 28th October!! Spread the Word!! www.facebook.com/events/1709112686045699 Some updates: * Plans are underway for a dance group to perform "Zombie Style" before the Cork Zombie Walk begins! * We were unable to get a permit to have a bucket collection on the day, so we are asking everyone to contribute €5 to take part in the Walk. All funds raised will go directly to the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind This worked out very successfully last year, so we hope it goes as well this year. Registration will take place during the afternoon of the 28th up until the walk itself. * I have applied to put up a Gazebo, so we can take registrations during the day, and offer make up etc. What I need help with is people to man the stand with me during the day and also any volunteers to do make up. * If people would like to support the walk, but don't so much want to transform into a Zombie, I am just starting to look for stewards who will help ensure all the zombies stay safe at the crossings and along the walk * I'm still searching for a venue for an after party, hoping to have a competition for best Zombie Costume, Zombie performance etc so we can all celebrate together once the Zombie Walk is completed. This will all depend on my ability to source a venue and prizes * Currently looking for Donations of Prizes & Make Up - If anyone has any contacts I could approach please get in contact, I can provide a letter of authorisation from the Guide Dogs to prove my legitimacy. Totally open to any ideas or suggestions, time is on our side this year. Thanks for your time Katriona
On Sunday 18th June the Blazing Bikers had an open day at the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind to present funds raised from June 2016-17. The Group presented a cheque for €93,993 which was raised in memory of Lorraine Shanahan the original proprietor of Inkoholiks. The funds raised were made up from a number of fundraising events and initiatives run throughout the year: Cork Zombie Walk Sales of Raffle Tickets for the Suzuki GN125, Sales of; Christmas Cards & Calendars, Seasonal Hampers, Guide Dogs Boxes in the Tipperary Locality, the Trip around Tipp Motorbike Run, The Great Northern Motorbike Run, Table Quiz, Stands at various bike shows, Church gate collections and Flag Days. On behalf of myself and my family we would like to thank everybody that supported us with our fundraising. As you all know our lives were turned upside down in November 2015, when we had to say goodbye to Lorraine, it’s been a tough road to continue, but the one thing that keeps us going and running these events is keeping Lorraine’s memory alive. Anyone that knew Loli Inkoholiks would know how much she loved fundraising and helping people in any way that she could, she went above and beyond to make a difference, her first response to any cause no big or how small, friend or stranger was “how can I help” she was so unbelievably selfless putting everyone before herself. Continuing with fundraising is our way of trying our best of honour Lorraine’s memory. I will be honest and say it hasn’t been easy to continue, but the support we have received and all the help people have given us to raise these funds has been amazing. For the majority of the last 19mths the fundraising events were the one of the few things that kept me going. It’s easy to post away on facebook giving the illusion that everything is fine, few know the truth behind the keyboard. I am heartbroken beyond belief to have lost my sister. At times I barely manage to pull myself together and get out of bed for the events and face people. You try put on a brave face for those few hours, you try hold yourself together, you try smile for photos but the whole time you are just about hanging in there so that you can honour the memory of someone so special as Lorraine. Each event has been a step further along the road. If it hadn’t been for the Cork Zombie Walk, which was Lorraine’s baby, I don’t know when I would of been ready to visit my home of Cork without my sister. So really what I am trying to say in the most honest way ( and in essay form - apologies ) is that every bit of help we received no matter how big or small resulted in the funds that were raised in Lorraine’s memory and it has helped us along this horrible unexpected road in our lives. Thank you all very much for your support in raising what turned out to be over €94,000 after a few last minute sales of raffle tickets at the open day on Sunday. Congratulations to Eileen Murphy on winning the Suzuki, looking forward to seeing you at the next Blazing Bikers Motorbike event with your L plates! Katriona Shanahan On behalf of the Shanahan Family
