Bantry General Hospital has received a National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) Data Quality Award for achieving compliance with the NTPF’s hospital waiting list Data Quality Standards.

The Friends of Bantry General Hospital would like to thank the Drimoleague Railway Yard Threshing Committee for their generous donation of €3,750 from their 12th Annual Railway Yard Threshing & Vintage Display, which took place on Sunday the 28th of August 2016 in the Railway yard Drimoleague. The proceeds of the event were divided equally between The Friends of Bantry General Hospital and the Neonatal Unit in Cork University Hospital. Thanks to everyone for supporting the event.

Malin to Mizen Charity Cycle 2016 On the 21st of August 2016 John Joe Bowen, James O'Sullivan, Johnny O'Sullivan, Dominic O' Sullivan & James Scully are undertaking an enormous 4 day challenge from Malin Head to Mizen Head for three worthy causes: Cancer Connect, The Children's Leukaemia Association & The Centre for Mental Health & Recovery in Bantry General Hosptial. Below is an insight into the invalueable services provided. Cancer Connect is a free, flexible and confidential service, that runs five days a week to Cork hospitals. The service is operated entirely by volunteer drivers and is vital support for the many people who avail of the services to get to the Cork Hospitals for either Radiotherapy or Chemotherapy treatment. To date, over 11,500 passenger journeys have been recorded. Cancer Connect is managed by Local Link Cork, a non profit, independant company that co-ordinates transport for county cork. Cancer Connect is totally dependant on voluntary contributions and donations. The Children's Leukaemia Association is a registered Charity based in Cork which supports and assists families whose children are being cared for in the Children’s Leukaemia Unit at the Mercy Hospital, Cork. They receive no government funding and rely entirely on voluntary contributions from the public. All donations received for the Children’s Leukaemia Association are used to benefit the children who suffer from Leukaemia, Cancer or other serious blood disorders. The Centre for Mental Health Care & Recovery, Bantry General Hospital. It is estimated that one in four of us will experience some mental health problems in our lifetime, from a low period, to more serious depression, to a small number who will experience severe mental health problems. The Centre for Mental Health & Recovery provides an acute admission and treatment service to a population of approximately 54,000, spread over the West Cork area extending to locations as distant as the Beara Peninsula and Mizen Head. Any dontions recieved will be used to benefit patients under their care. Any sponsorship you kindly donate is greatly appreciated and remember every little counts.
