I was asked the other day what was needed in a basic sewing box. So here is my answer... Hand sewing needles - assorted pack Fabric scissors - 1 large and one small Fabric tape measure Box of pins Threads - 100% cotton Quick up-picker All these bits can be picked up for a few cents or for a vast fortune the fun is in the hunting. For example the scissors in the photo came as a pair for €3 from Eurosavers, the pack of needles was €7.50 from Vibes and Scribes in Cork. I often raid Lidl though you have to be a bit careful as the quality can vary. Another place to visit is @SamGarvey in the Youghal Enterprise Centre she sells lots of bit and pieces and is well worth a visit so you can 'Keep It Local' These are just the basics over time your sewing box will expand with collected bits and once you start making and showing your skills the donations will have you moving into a bigger box, then the under stairs cupboard, then the spare room and if you are as lucky as me your partner kicks you out into a studio in the garden :-) Happy Sewing from Sew Happy
