For part 2 of our birthday celebrations we have invited Dublin duo Boots & Kats down to make their Cork debut. Boots & Kats main aim is providing the crowd with a feel good atmosphere to get people in the groove whether it’s a sunny day or their playing in the depths of a club. You never know exactly what you might hear but this element of surprise is crucial to what makes their sets so memorable. A good deal of the more modern music they play has the basis of House with a pronounced foot-shuffling beat, but they're heavily influenced by the Disco/Funk era of the 70’s and the timeless Dance Classics of the 90’s; so it’s hard not to feel nostalgic when they inevitably pull out that song you haven’t heard in too long. Unlike too many DJ’s nowadays these boys don’t take themselves too seriously; usually sporting vibrant Hawaiian shirts they are known to visibly have as much fun behind the decks as anyone in the crowd, which compliments the party vibe they create. The duo have been thoroughly road tested throughout Dublin. They regularly play in the city’s collection of clubs, big and small, and hold a weekly residency in the club night ‘Toast’. It was here where the two first started playing music together, setting the mould for the distinctive sound of the aptly named “Party Shack” room of the club night. As they developed their abilities to seamlessly blend into each other’s music collections they eventually landed some significant support slots and festival appearances. Most notably being their impromptu set from Life Festival last year, defining their style when they played for 5 hours with both them and the crowd still hungry for more. They have warmed the crowd up to just the right temperature for a variety of acts including Annie Mac, Kölsch, Ben Pearce, Mylo, Simian Mobile Disco and Klangkarussell. 2015 also saw their first appearances abroad at events such as Lost & Found (Malta) and Amsterdamaged (NL).
