Farming 5 day Forecast Farming Weather Analysis Friday 24 February 2017 12:00 Rain Over the past week, rainfall amounts have been above average over much of Ireland with amounts ranging from 100 to 180%. The heavy rain associated with storm Doris contributed greatly to this. Amounts ranged from 50 to 100% in southern coastal counties. Our weather will unsettled over the coming week with heavy rain or showers at times, especially over the western half of the country and rainfall amounts between 100 and 200% of average. Temperatures It has been a remarkably mild Winter and over the past week air temperatures were between 2.5 and 4 degrees above average, while soil temperatures were between 3.5 and 5.0 degrees above average. The coming week will not be quite as mild, so both air and soil temperatures will be closer to average, but still mostly above average. Sunshine Despite the dry and mild weather of recent days it hasn't been very sunny with only 40 to 60% over average values. And with wet and very changeable weather forecast for the week ahead sunshine will remain generally below average. Drying Conditions Drying will be poor overall. Spraying Opportunities for spraying will be limited. Field Conditions Well drained soils will remain trafficable over the coming days, especially in the east. However, in general, spells of rain or showers will mean that mainy soil will be saturated and that trafficability will be poor.
