Lyons Garages
Description
Classic car garage in Clare, Ireland specialising in the restoration, rebuilding and servicing of Classic Minis, MG’s, Triumphs, Jaguars, and more. If we haven't yet done the marketing equivalent of running up and slapping you in the face, then please allow us to introduce ourselves. Right after I fire our marketing department for not doing their job of course.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Lyons Garages was set up in the late 1960s on a fine Summer's day. Seriously though, that day was so lovely out, that if I was there I'd probably have got burnt. Either from the BBQ or the sun.
Based in West Clare along with the older brother Lyons Travel, we are a small family business specialising in the restoration, rebuilding and servicing of Classic Minis, MGs, Triumphs, Fords, Jaguar, Porsche *deep breath* aaaaand many more classic sports cars. You name it, we can Google it.
I joke. Thanks to a bit of construction work in 2015, we're now in probably the largest dedicated classic car garage in Ireland. We undertake all restoration work, large or small. From baby rust repairs right through to complete restoration projects. We carry out sand & bead blasting, rust treatment and also under-body and cavity wax sealing.
With backgrounds in Design and Engineering, we'll not only make your machine work well, but my word will it look good. It's a bit beyond the ol' lick of paint be grand jobs! Basically we like to make ugly things pretty... What can I say - We're shallow people.
All our work is fully documented & photographed. Our aim is to complete all work to the highest possible standard, whether it be a full concours style build or an everyday classic.
If you fancy talking to us about your car, or if you would like to see more photos, please don't hesitate to contact us either by email, the hello phone, or even smoke signals. We're a great bunch of lads altogether!
Oh! We have a Garage Blog, like a diary I suppose you could call it. It's where you can find out what we've been up each week and see what's upcoming in the world of Lyons Garages.
We regularly update our site with new photos of current restorations and of finished builds. Now that the new garage has been freshly painted and the likes, you can expect a few more artistic ones. Oh and videos with dramatic music and lots of slow motion. You can also follow us on le Facebook page and on el Instagram.
If you like entertainment, you should probably like our page... If not, well maybe entertainment just isn't for you. But that's ok. We don't judge...

facebook.comThinking of embarking on a restoration? Have a read! "When you're about to embark on a restoration, you need to consider not only the cost of the parts needed but also the fact that in many cases, you really won't get your money back on the car. There's no point beating around the bush here, the majority of the time a classic is the second car, basically just a grown up's toy for the summer and not a money maker. 'So why are you telling me this?' Is probably what you're screaming at your laptop, phone or dog. Great question. Smart as well as beautiful. Wink wink. Well, our aim is to restore cars to as high as possible a standard so that it increases their value and reduces/eliminates the need for future work on the car. Not to blow our own tuba or anything, but we're proud of the great work we do here in our garage. As a result, we won't undertake any quick fix jobs, and to be honest - we're not even sorry!"
Do you think fish are like birds to lobsters? 🤔 Here's the underneath of a Christmas red MGB Roadster.
Evening. What you're looking at here is what we like to call a Mini that has decided that it wants to look good for the new year. A "new year, new me" if you will. 1: Strip exterior and interior. 2: Remove engine and sub frames. Tea: with milk please.
Nothing to see here, just an MG A with an under-under coat rust protection, and then an under coat protector to allow us to work on it some more and keep it... protected. Also, lighting is tough when it's late and in Winter. No need to judge, As you were.
Have a look at some winter storage tips from us, your friendly neighbourhood geniuses 🙃
Soooo... remember that time we were in the paper? Fancy reading a little about us and inflating our egos? You do? Right this way pal.
The shiny metal finish on the MG A is nice. Interesting 🤔
