The World Famous Machu Picchu is visited by a million tourists annually. It is even more famous for the marathon 26mile hike across the Andes Mountains from Kilometre 82 to this City of the Inca, known as the Inca Trial. This is my story , an incredible one of the Irish tourist who became a ‘Porter’ on the world’s most famous tourist trail. I am the only non-Peruvian to walk the trail as a worker. See what it takes to live the life of a porter on this sky-high trail and join me and my camera man Olly Pemberton for a discussion about the experience as both a tourist and then a porter. Over the Hump and on to camp site 2. this is most exhausted i have ever had, energy levels had been completely depleted.....but over the worst of it.....or so I thought.....going up is one thing coming down is quiet another experience completely when your physically and mentally exhausted
Not far off the top and I was fecked to say the least.....this mountain broke me, physically and mentally
Nearly at the top and it was some walk. I didnt get a lot of footage going up as it was just so exhuating to breathe let a lone keep video going.
All packed and ready leave on day2,this is just a quick snipet of the campsite before we head off. This is the most gruelling day going up hill. We have to cross over whats know as 'Dead Woman's Pass', reaching heights of 4215m above sea level and the descending in to the valley on the far side to approx 3000m. A taste of Peru and what you can expect when you book @exodus🖒🖒
Day one walking done......after this video I went straight down to the cooks hut to help with the dinner so no rest. As you can the jacket was on so as soon as the sun went in it got really cold Really tiring work, you burn so much energy as you walk, and the hard part is to stay hydrated as you go. I was happy with day one and really happy at the though of getting some sleep :-)
The local brew is corn beer, its tastes good but would blow the lid off of ya......really strong and cheap :-)
