Description
RECOSI (Regional and European Co-Operative for Social Industry) based in Ireland is a not for profit organisation. RECOSI was formed in early 2014 by a group of like-minded individuals, who want to help to develop social enterprises, which are operating manly in the area of reuse of IT equipment and WEEE.
Our main objective is to develop social enterprises commercial activity in a meaningful and profitable way by combining the resources and expertise of both the social enterprises and commercial sector.
Our aim is to create commercially unified model between social enterprises and commercial bodies in the IT reuse and WEEE market, which is directly delivering social value, commercial revenue and environmental protection.
WE WANT TO
1. Increase Revenue and sustainability of social enterprises (less dependence on funding).
2. Offer professional environmental controls and WEEE best practice.
3. Increase in Reuse, reduction in WEEE.
4. Create more jobs in Social Economy in Europe.

E-Waste Academy | Leading Capacity Building on E-waste
Katja Zajko, Director of RECOSI, is being a part of prestigious #EwasteAcademy at #UnitedNationsUniversity http://ewasteacademy.org/ E-waste Academy is a unique program that brings together 20-25 selected researchers from social and physical sciences to look at e-waste with a truly interdisciplinary lens. PhD students, post-docs and early career researchers from around the world come together to network with government, industry and academic experts and share existing knowledge and research on e-waste. The EWAS network spans nearly 100 EWAS alumni from top universities, across 30 countries.

Before Christmas we held a competition in conjunction with The Wheel, the umbrella body for Ireland's charities and non profits. We are delighted to announce that the winner of an iPad was Jigsaw, who provide vital supports to young people with their mental health by working closely with communities across Ireland. Pictured is Brian from The Wheel and Aislinn from Jigsaw. RECOSI Pay IT Forward with St. Joseph's National School As part of our Pay IT Forward program RECOSI donates equipment to worthy causes. We were delighted to recently work with St. Joseph's NS in Tullamore and provided them with computer equipment for their classrooms. "We are thrilled to receive your donation of PCs to St Joseph's. They arrived safely and are now installed in classrooms to the delight of our second class pupils. Our pupils will enjoy using the computers in many different ways to enhance their learning activities and are already planning all sorts of projects. We are all very grateful to the team at RECOSI and are delighted to be involved with the Pay it Forward scheme."
