Balbriggan Cub Scouts Awarded Chief Scout Award Last night (23rd February 2018) Balbriggan Scout Den at Market Green was a hive of activity. Four of the cub scouts were awarded the Chief Scout Award which is the highest award that they can be awarded. The importance of the occasion was enhanced as the Chief Scout of Ireland, Christy McCann, was in attendance and presented the awards to the boys. To be awarded this award the cubs had to successfully complete a number of challenges over the last year that included hiking 20 km, carrying out community projects, camping and learning many new skills. As well as presenting the Chief Scout Award participants with their awards the Chief Scout was also on hand to invest eight new cubs into Thursday Night’s cub pack and welcome them to the international movement of scouting. “Investing” is the formal ceremony were scouts are welcomed to scouting and make a promise to serve their community and live by the scout law. A neckerchief is then placed around their necks and they officially become scouts. It was a great honour for the boys to be invested by the Chief Scout. Well done to those awarded their Chief Scout Award and the best of luck to the boys that were invested into the group. Maybe one day they too will be awarded their Chief Scout Award!!

We here in the group are Wishing you all a fantastic Founders Day. Reflect on the memories, the fun, the adventures that scouting brings! Think of those today who have left the path but who gave us their footprint. Enjoy celebrating with over 50 million people today the birthday of this incredible man. What a legacy!
