Press Release Re: 2nd Cobh Cruise Terminal. Cobh and Harbour Chamber welcomes the announcement that 97 cruise liners will visit Cork Harbour in 2018 and more importantly that it is hoped to have a new terminal up and running by 2020.This proposed terminal will be a major boost to the Cobh and Harbour region and in particular to the east end of the town of Cobh. Included in the plans will be berthing facilities for visiting yachts and also for cross-harbour ferry services which will enable greater connectivity between harbour communities and their tourist attractions. However, the Chamber is conscious of the limitations of the road access to Cobh - in particular from Fota to the town centre. it is imperative that the R624 planned upgrade be addressed as a priority. Parking problems in the town are very apparent even at the moment and will also require to be addressed parallel to the proposed 2nd terminal. The success of the cruise liner traffic has benefitted not only Cork Harbour and the City of Cork but the whole South Munster region and the proposed expansion of the business far exceeds the expectations of Cork Cruise when that organisation was established in the 90’s by Cobh and Harbour Chamber and the Port of Cork. Tony McKeown, President Cobh & Harbour Chamber.
