Description
Foundation Sjaki-Tari-Us has the purpose to support children with a mental disability in their development and participation to society. We establish this by mobilizing Dutch resources, knowledge and expertise and put it to the disposal of parents, teachers, counselors and other interested people on Bali. Our mission is to transfer the resources in that way, that they can apply and transfer this themselves in the future. Thereby, the quality of the guidance, support and education of these children will be increased structurally.
At the moment, Foundation Sjaki-Tari-Us is working on a number of projects:
-Play-learn classes for young children and their parents/caretakers, in Ubud.
-Play-learn classes for young children and their parents/caretakers, interested in a regular pre-school in Singaraja, North Bali.
-A ‘teach the teacher’ program for teachers of Special needs education.
-A transport service for children who participate in special needs education programs, but don’t have the possibility to go there independently (In Singaraja and Ubud).
-The start of a day-activity center for young adults in Ubud.
The first volunteers started the projects from October 14, 2006. Since that time, a lot of volunteers followed, and more important, more Balinese employees are hired to keep the projects running. More information on the development of the foundation can be found under ‘development’.

Last week we hosted some groups of visitors with a lunch buffet but also with activities with our teenagers! The groups came with an organized tour to our school building and got to know our school project and our teenagers of course! Thanks for stopping by at the school project and for your help!

Yesterday we celebrated the opening from our new and bigger building in Singaraja. The children of the bintang, matahari and willy class did some wunderfull performing! We all enjoyed the party!
