confidence, self-esteem, communication and performance skills. The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy was originally founded in 1979 in Australia, when Helen O'Grady, a trained teacher, drama teacher and actress, hired a hall and commenced affordable after school drama classes for
young people from 2 - 18 years of age.
With an extensive curriculum, dynamic teachers and
easily accessible venues, this is a truly community-based organisation, with a strong emphasis on the care of all its students.
Our qualified Helen O’Grady teachers undergo regular exclusive training.
All teachers are trained to develop personal rapport with each student and each Academy Principal attends classes regularly to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
Children attend fast paced classes for one hour a week, according to their specific age-group. Each lesson is carefully planned and includes introductory activities, speech, verbal dynamics, creative movement, dance drama, language development, structured improvisation, dialogue development, snippets, scene starters, and mini-scripts activity.
We provide a highly developed curriculum, every class has a full lesson plan and every class is different with the curriculum constantly updated by our specialist educational unit in the United Kingdom. This ensures your child enjoys a well run and properly structured class.
Parents Days and an annual Production allow parents and guardians to see first-hand the progress of the children.
