I went to the lake to say goodbye. Friends had been hugged, letters had been given, and it was time. Swans skated by on the ice while the sun and moon winked at each other through clouds and I tossed beautiful, heavy rocks with little prayers onto the frozen water. Every rock whirred like a loose mechanical thread and the Inn laughed with me, echoing blue and green and clear.
