Professionelle Flugsimulatoren werden zur Aus- und Fortbildung von Piloten seit Jahrzehnten eingesetzt. Sie sind in der Welt der Luftfahrt nicht mehr wegzudenken. Ein zertifizierter Full Flight Simulator für die Pilotenausbildung kostet mehrere Millionen Euro und bietet eine Bewegungsplattform auf hydraulischer Basis. Der Softwarehersteller Microsoft bringt seit vielen Jahren periodisch Programme für die Flugsimulation in den eigenen vier Wänden heraus. Daraus hat sich in den letzten Jahren zunehmend ein Angebot für Cockpitsimulation auf Basis sogenannter „Fixed Base“-Simulatoren entwickelt.

For centuries professional flight simulators have been used for the training of real life pilots, either to prepare for their type ratings or to create special situations to be aware of.
A full certified, FAA for example, simulator is woth a few million euro and brings a hydraulic platform, movebale to simulate the G-forces inside the plane.
Microsoft peridoically released a software for flightsimulation out of your home computers. Since a few years, the idea of fixed based simulators for methodical training, based on those computer programs rose. Actually the training is held on those simulators for more than ten years.
