"City under the Sea" is a painting derived from the drawing I gave to Katie. That drawing represented the view from Toronto's Four Season's Centre. This piece shows the reflections from that window but includes spirals that represents shells. All things originate from somewhere and this is an attempt to show the ancient origins of what we consider to be modern.

“If the wonder of sunrise on the summer sand or an awesome mountain view makes you think: “Could I turn this into a painting?”, then this collection of new expressions will demonstrate that it is not too late to learn! This exhibition features the works of new painters, who meet at the Douglas Street Recreation Centre under the direction of Lyndia Wellwood and Christene Sandeson. Within a relaxing atmosphere, these new painters have expressed their memories, feelings and life experiences in two dimensional media, and are proud to introduce their watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings and drawings in pencil or colour pencil to you. This work will be on display at the Marigold Centre during the month of September, Monday – Friday from 9 – 5 and 90 minutes prior to evening performances. The Opening reception will be September 9, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm and all are welcome to come.
