With this year’s #WorldHealthDay the WHO declares war on diabetes. The “Beat #diabetes” campaign aims to raise the awareness on this issue among the global population. Diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, kidneys and eyes. Diabetes-related eye complications are common and result, if untreated, in visual impairment and ultimately lead to blindness. Common diseases are diabetic retinopathy, macular edema and cataract. Once every 6 hours a person goes blind in Germany alone, due to the consequences of diabetic retinopathy. Have your eyes examined regularly to reduce your risk of possible diseases.

Wissen teilen und gemeinsam besser werden – Lean Production zum Anfassen HEINE und TQ Systems, zusammen mit dem Unternehmensberater Christoph Hirschle, laden am 6. und 7. April 2016 zu einem praxisnahen Workshop rund um das Thema Lean Production ein. Am Beispiel des HEINE Produktionssystems erleben die Teilnehmer live, wie Standardisierte Arbeit und MIFA nach den Grundsätzen der KAIZEN Philosophie gestaltet wurden. Die gemeinsame Reflexion gibt allen die Gelegenheit, aus geteilter Erfahrung zu lernen und den Prozess der ständigen Verbesserung zu leben. Wir begrüßen ganz herzlich die Vertreter von Sirona, Zeiss Meditech, PARI, Nokia, Alber, 3M Deutschland und Physiomed im Fünf-Seen-Land. Lean Production hat in der Medizintechnik-Branche bereits eine lange Tradition. Neue technologische Möglichkeiten und veränderte Marktanforderungen stellen ein Unternehmen jedoch immer wieder neu vor die Herausforderung, schlanke Abläufe zu definieren und Prozesse zu optimieren, um so letztendlich die Bedürfnisse des Kunden bestmöglich und effizient zu erfüllen.

Am 13. April findet bei HEINE die Fortbildungsveranstaltung „Dermatoskopie in der Allgemeinarztpraxis“ mit Herrn Prof. Dr. med. Markus Braun-Falco statt. Die Einführung des Hautkrebsscreenings (HKS) als Kassenleistung und die damit verbundenen Schulungen haben bei Allgemeinärzten in ganz Deutschland auch das Interesse an der Dermatoskopie geweckt. Sie verschafft bei zweifelhaft pigmentierten Hautveränderungen in vielen Fällen schnell Klarheit. Dave Handley, Managing Director of our subsidiary HEINE Australia, experienced personally how important it is to take even small skin changes seriously. At the start of January he discovered a suspicious skin part. Consequently, he examined himself with a HEINE NC1 Dermatoscope in front of a mirror. The small mole on the right hand of his nose was conspicuous and he consulted a dermatologist. The dermatologist found that it is indeed a basal cell carcinoma – one of the most common types of malignant tumours. The tumour, also referred to as white skin cancer, had to be surgically removed immediately. Dave Handley has to live with a rather big scar now but he is extremely relieved at the same time. Due to his background knowledge he could react quickly and has promising chances of cure.

At HEINE, Lean Management means focusing all activities on the customer, the continuous improvement of product quality and the quality of internal processes, 100% customer satisfaction through optimal delivery service, as well as a fast and efficient production. From our roughly 6,000 raw materials and components, about 1/3 are internally controlled via Kanban which also extends to external suppliers. Kanban as a method of production process control enables us to reduce the upper limit of the work in progress inventory and to avoid the overloading of the manufacturing system. This way, the individual product components have short logistical distances within the company and our production can run in an One-Piece-Flow system.
