【イベント情報】 9月18日にドイツ・キール大学にてキール大学と神戸大学の共催で「Bilateral Kobe-Kiel Workshop」が開催されます。"Nanoscience and Technology"と"Bilateral and international partnerships in economy and politics"の2つのセッションが行われます。

先日、カルガリー大学（カナダ）のブライアン R シンクレア博士ご夫妻が当オフィスを訪問されました。きっかけは、7月のStammtischで知り合った、ハイデルベルク大学一般精神医学講座研究員の菅原一晃さんに市内で偶然、再会したこと。「今度、オフィスに伺います」という言葉通り、お知り合いを連れてお訪ねくださったのでした。 シンクレア先生はカルガリー大学の環境デザイン学部（元学部長）で教鞭をとられており、１セメスターは学生を伴って日本に滞在されているとの由。もともとは他国で研修していたそうですが、学生たちの強い希望もあり最近の研修場所は専ら日本になっているのだとか。名前を聞けば誰でも知っている日本の著名な建築家とも親しく、事情が許せば学生との懇談の機会を設けるなど中身の濃い日本滞在のようです。 今秋も約20名の大学院生と東京の虎ノ門にスペースを借りて、数ヶ月を過ごされるそうなので（宿泊等は学生が自分たちで手配）、「京都にも学生さんが関心を持たれる建築物がいろいろありますよ」とお伝えしました。 このように小さなきっかけが繋がって、京都をご紹介する機会がもてるのはとても嬉しく、また光栄なことです。Dr. and Mrs. Sinclairそして菅原様、ご訪問ありがとうございました。次は京都でお目にかかれることを楽しみにしています。 This Monday, we had some unexpected visitors from Canada, Dr. Brian R. Sinclair and Mrs. Yuki Sinclair. The story goes back to July when we had our Stammtisch organized by our office. Dr. Kazuaki Sugawara (researcher at general psychology course at Heidelberg University) was one of the participants and we happened to see in the city centre of Heidelberg last week that led to his and the couples’ visit the other day. Dr. Sinclair is a former dean at the faculty of environmental design at University of Calgary and now professor of architecture and environmental design there. He takes his students to Japan for one semester each year and supervises them during the stay. His next visit will be this autumn to Tokyo. And with his 20 students, he will observe the changing metropolitan city in Toranomon where he rents his space for this occasion. We told Dr. Sinclair that Kyoto too has got unique pieces of architecture, worth visiting for the students. Thank you very much for your visit Dr. and Mrs. Sinclair and Dr. Sugawara and we look forward to seeing you again in Kyoto!

“Do you know why ‘Ritter Sport’ is called ‘Ritter Sport’?” “?????” “Well, it is said that this chocolate contains enough nutrition and energy for a Ritter, namely knight to fight for day.”(*1) “Wow!” And that was a start for a city tour in Heidelberg. August 3 was the opening day for the International Summer School of German Language and Culture 2017 (*2) hosted by Heidelberg University and many participants were gathering to attend the above first day excursion. This year 580 people are participating from all over the world. We had a chance to see one of the organizers and she told us that some candidates could not make the trip this year, due to visa problem. When she started to work for this summer school, it was a time when things were opening, more and more people were coming from other part of the world, but now the situation has changed into the opposite direction, she explained in a slightly disappointed mood. “But, “ she continued “that is why we hold and keep holding this summer school.” (*1) Ritter Sport is run by Family Ritter so this part maybe created by the guide. (*2) Please see post on December 15, 2015 for further details on summer school. 「Ritter Sport（ドイツのチョコレートの商品名）の名前の由来、知ってる？」 「？？？？？」 「Ritterつまり、騎士が戦えるだけのエネルギーを備えたチョコレート、っていう意味なんだ(*1)」 「おー！！」 ガイド役のつかみはOK、ハイデルベルク市ツアーへ出発です。 8月3日にハイデルベルク大学が主催する、ドイツ語のサマースクール(*2)が開講(8月30日まで)、初日はドイツ語レベルごとの市内観光で、18時の大学広場には多くの受講生達が集まっていました。 90年の歴史を誇るサマースクールに今夏は世界中から580名が参加しているとのこと。「でも、今年はトルコなどからの受講希望者の中に開講日までに入国許可が下りなかった人たちがいて」とは国際部の方のお話。「自分が関わり始めた頃は、どんどん開いて（参加国が増えて）いたのに、最近はその逆の傾向にある」と残念そうな表情でしたが、「だからこそ、このようなサマースクールを開催すること、続けることに意味があるんだと思う」と微笑んだ顔にはこれまでの実績に対する自信が広がっていました。 2017年の受講料は670ユーロ（約87,000円）、大学紹介の宿舎を利用すると滞在費360ユーロ（約47,000円）程度で約１ヶ月間、ハイデルベルクでドイツ語、ドイツ文化などについて学ぶことができます。来年の夏休み、いかがですか。 (*1) 同社はRitter家による家族経営なので、ガイド役の創作の可能性も。 (*2) サマースクールについては、2015年12 月15日の投稿を参照ください。

" Im Theater ist was los! (There is something going on in the theatre!)", was the invitation from my friend at Heidelberg University, so I went to see “I De Fix” on a relaxing Friday evening. “I De Fix” is a group of international and German students who play theater pieces in German language. And they were just awesome! I was very much impressed and moved by their dignified manner on stage, and could hardly believe that many of them did start from ZERO knowledge of German language 10 months ago. This year, 25 actors and actresses from 15 countries, including Germany, were on stage to play small pieces from Monty Python, Woody Allen and others. Musical direction was also conducted by talented students and the “Romanischer Keller” was filled with big laughter and applause for the whole time during the play. Thank you very much for this special moment! 先日、ハイデルベルク大学国際部の友人に誘われて、留学生たちによるドイツ語劇「Im Theater ist was los! （劇場で何かが起こってる！）」に足を運びました。「素晴らしい！」のひと言。モンティ・パイソンやウディ・アレンなどの短編がいくつも演じられるのですが「舞台中央の彼は昨秋、ハイデルベルクに来た時、ドイツ語はゼロだったのよ」という言葉がにわかには信じられないほどの堂々したドイツ語のセリフ回しに満席の会場は何度も爆笑の渦に包まれていました。 15カ国、25名の若者たちが稽古を始めたのが3月末。毎年、初日が迎えられるかドキドキだそうですが、汗と涙と笑いとで団結した彼らは必ず困難を乗り越えて最高のものを見せてくれる、と演出もしている友人が誇らしげに語ってくれました。今年は残念ながら日本人はいなかったようですが、いろいろなお国柄に触れてドイツ語もしっかりと身につくI De Fix、ハイデルベルクに滞在する機会があればぜひ、のぞいてみてください。 そして、その友人と共に演出を手がけているお一人がAndreas Weber-Schäfer氏。かの社会学者Max Weberのお孫さんです。ご挨拶をさせていただく機会があったので京都大学のこと、当オフィスのこと、しっかりご紹介させていただきましたよ。 https://www.idefix-theater.de/index.html

Our networking event “Stammtisch” was held after our information session for exchange students on July 12. More than 30 people gathered in a nice Spanish restaurant along Necker and the room was filled with lots of laughter and lively conversations. For amusement, we did a quiz game “Let’s know more about KU (Kyoto University)”. Can you guess what the most popular meal at KU Cafeteria is? Those who gave the correct answer did the "rock-paper-scissors" to each other and the winner got some gift from KU! We will inform you for our next Stammtisch to be held in autumn on this Facebook. On July 12, we held our information session for exchange students who plan to start their study at Kyoto University (KU) from this autumn. Those who are interested in studying in Japan were also welcomed. Basic information on campus life in Kyoto was provided, including administrative affairs and matters of daily life. Ms. Sabine Schenk from Heidelberg University Office Kyoto kindly contributed to this session providing further information from her point of view. Our exchange student from Kyoto gave a presentation on how to take classes, what club activities we have, and how to make Japanese friends. Participants showed high interest in University Magazine “Chot★Better” which is issued by KU students as a club activity that shows detailed information on classes from KU students' perspective. We asked a student from Heidelberg University who studied at KU, to share his experience in Japan and to give "the new comers" some tips for life in Kyoto. Participants listened carefully while enjoying the beautiful pictures from Japan on screen, taken by this student. A live Q&A session followed after the presentations and we could feel their big expectation and small anxiety toward their new life. We are always here for you! 欧州拠点ハイデルベルクオフィス主催「渡日前説明会」開催（7/12、ハイデルベルク） さる7月12日（水）、ハイデルベルク大学から京都大学へ留学予定の学生及び日本留学に関心のある学生を対象とした渡日前説明会が開催されました。 本学の紹介、ハイデルベルク大学京都オフィスの紹介、暮らしに役立つ基本情報レクチャーに加え、本学留学生及びハイデルベルク大学留学経験者からは学生ならではの目線で話しをしてもらいました。 本学留学生によるプレゼンテーションでは、授業やクラブ・サークル活動、京都のイベント情報、日本人の友達を作る方法等を紹介、特に講義情報をまとめた学内向け広報誌“Chot★Better”への関心が高く、写真を撮る学生の姿も見られました。 ハイデルベルク大学の学生は日本滞在中に自身で撮影した写真をスライドショーで投影しながら留学体験者ならではの生活のヒントなどをアドバイス、参加者は写真を楽しみながら生の学生の声に耳を傾けていました。 質疑応答では、日本語授業の受講手続きや国際交流会館への入居申請方法、通学定期券の購入の仕方、アルバイトの可否等、主に生活面に関する質問が寄せられました。 本説明会では、本学学生やハイデルベルク大学留学経験者の話を交え、ここでしか聞けない情報が多く提供され、参加された学生は熱心に話を聞いていました。 今後も、当オフィスは、留学予定の学生が安心して日本での留学生活を送れるよう、また多くの学生に本学への留学に興味を持ってもらえるよう渡日前説明会を実施していく予定です。 なお、留学に関する相談は随時受け付けておりますのでお気軽にお問い合わせください。 ※拠点ウェブサイトにも同イベントの記事を掲載しています。是非ご覧ください。http://www.oc.kyoto-u.ac.jp/overseas-centers/eu/news/20170721_5016/
