"In 2016, after teaching English to pre-military students for 2 years, I left my motherland to go on adventures outside of the Netherlands. I needed a change of pace and scenery. Another tiny detail was that I also needed to finish my degree, which was dragging me down at the time. I chose to move to Oxford to work for a language school and while working I finished my degree, followed by a “I have no idea what I would like to do with my life” moment. So, I decided to travel to the US and Canada. After coming back to The Netherlands I looked for jobs and found the position of Office Manager at trivago - I like organising things and an international environment is where I thrive. trivago was unlike anything I had experienced before, after working for schools in the Netherlands and the UK, everything at trivago was shiny and new! Literally, the work environment, my laptop, all the facilities, and the flexibility. But the biggest change for me was how the talents are the centre of everything at trivago. At first this was all slightly overwhelming, to be honest. But after getting used to the fact that I, as a talent, had the freedom to shape my position and learn the necessary skills to grow, it motivated me to keep evolving. I now work as Talents & Culture Lead in Amsterdam, and my goal of every working day is to cultivate the same culture and feel for the talents working in Amsterdam as in all other trivago offices.
