Founded in 1988 and based in the Rhine/Ruhr area, its business is the development of entertainment software. Ubisoft Blue Byte produced two of the best known series in the history of German computer gaming:
THE SETTLERS® and the ANNO SERIES. THE SETTLERS - an award-winning series of building strategy games - sold millions of copies worldwide and celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2003. The ANNO SERIES, also known as 'Dawn of Discovery' in the US, has sold over 6 million copies worldwide.
Blue Byte was acquired by Ubisoft in 2001, integrated into the international structure of the manufacturer and publisher and is now regarded as the absolute expert in strategy games in the global Ubisoft studio network.
