Paint damage due to sunscreen It is a well-known problem in the summer: The sun is shining, it is hot, so you want to get to the outdoor bath as quickly as possible. Before hitting the road, you quickly put some sunscreen on yourself and your children. Sun protection is good for your skin, for automotive paint it is a nightmare however. Especially at high temperatures, paint is very sensitive. The ingredients of lotions or oils can easily penetrate the paint surface, which may result in permanent damage. Spies Hecker advises you to polish the affected spot promptly, because otherwise the milky white spots may deeply penetrate the paint coats which then must be recoated costly. The paint coats must be ground off partially and reapplied in order to avoid a recurrent damage pattern. Even the Speed Repair method is useless in this case. Silverstone – “Home of British Motor Racing” The infamous Silverstone Circuit is the epitome of British motor racing. As long as 67 years ago, the first Formula 1 race was staged here. Many racing teams are based near the circuit, which is why it is also a prestigious home race for them. The Silverstone Circuit is considered to be one of the fastest circuits in the world due to its extremely speedy corners. The race cars burn the asphalt at breakneck average speeds of 238km/h. As is the case each year, the traditional circuit with its 52 laps (5.891km each) and 18 turns will demand everything from the drivers. With 1:29.243 minutes, Lewis Hamilton set the lap record in last year’s qualifying on the race circuit which was modified in 2010. The Formula 1 paying a visit to Austria What a breath-taking mountain scenery in the middle of Styria! After several interruptions and an absence of 11 years, the Formula 1 is back in the Alpine republic of Austria since 2014. Experience the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, one of the most modern race tracks in Europe. On the “Ring” which is 4.318 km long the drivers face an “uphill” battle until the second corner. After that, it’s mostly “downhill from there”. These considerable differences in altitude require high engine performance. Which team will bring home the victory this time? A challenge in the spray booth Do you know of how many different colour hues the Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ race car is made up of? The answer is 12: of five green hues, three blue hues, and four graphite silver hues. For three years now, Spies Hecker is known for the Silver Arrows’ distinctive race paintwork. The complex lines, stripes, and spark highlights of the new paintwork cover several parts – which is quite a challenge for the paintwork and graphics team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. Baku City Circuit – the fastest city circuit in the Formula 1 In June 2016, the Formula 1 made its debut at the Caspian Sea. The 6.003-kilometre-long circuit cuts through the heart of the metropolis home to 2 million people, leading past castle walls, promenades, and government buildings. Nonetheless, F1 fans will be thrilled by the top speeds: on a more than 2-kilometre-long straight, the drivers can accelerate like on no other F1 circuit.
