We open for the first time in June 2016.
Our price is £1000 per week, that's a whole lake to you and your friends or family.
We have around 200 Carp up to 53lb, these are mirrors, commons and grass. We also have 2 rare Mandarin Catfish in the Retreat and plenty of Pike, Perch and roach.
We have 2 Mircocat bait boats for hire on a weekly basis for £100 per week and that includes the boat, extra set of batteries and solar chargers.
There is Gazebo behind swims 1 and 2 which have a gas powered hob, BBQ and Fridge. Gas will have to be purchased.
There are toilets and recycling centre are located at the back of the Gazebo area at the lake.
The Cottage has shower, toilet, washing facilities with charging points and a fridge and freezer to store your bait and food.
We ask for a £200 deposit within 2 weeks of allocating your chosen week which can be found at the website. The available dates are blue.

The whole balance of your holiday will be required 6 weeks before your holiday begins. The £200 deposit will be returned within 7 days of your departure date.
Your holiday starts at 1pm on the Saturday and we request that you leave by 10am on the departure date.
We also require one persons passport from the party, that will be held as security for the week and will be returned on the departure date.

Don’t forget to grab your radios from the charging station on your way down to the lake.. you’ve always got one mate that says they didn’t hear you when you’re needing some assistance in the middle of night.. No excuses now!!
We’ve got a 22” DVD/TV working off solar power now in the gazebo. Our Hubi’s give enough charge for 3-4 hours viewing each day/night by charging throughout the daylight hours.
A quick afternoon session resulted in this new PB at 38lb. Rowed out to the shallows with a handful of pellet and boilies scattered around. Caught on a Size 6 beaked point on a slipped D-Rig with a pineapple pop up.
Putting together plans for a welcome BBQ for the VIP package. Nothing better than a couple of beers or a bottle of wine and someone else cooking a BBQ on the Saturday evening once you’ve arrived. That leaves you to concentrate on finding and implementing your spots and settling in. Côte de Boeuf will definitely be on the menu and Gareth will be on hand to give you any advice if needed.
The first photo taken 3 months ago, the second, two weeks ago and the last one is today. Amazing turnaround.. with the wet winter behind, temperatures in the twenties. Everything is growing back with a vengeance now. The fish has also been active all day and night.. The Retreat is alive!!

Can't wait to open and see our guests reactions this year to the changes we've done.. watching everyone else's fishing trips and fishery pages catch reports for the last month has been very frustrating!! So with 4 weeks to go until our first guests arrive, we thought we would recap on the video of the bottom of the lake, where the silt has been dug and where the features are. So for those who are lucky enough to join us this year here is a little research for you. Little features like where a stump is projecting out the ground holds the fish, when we drain the lake you can see the carp love to investigate, grubbing around in the silt around the features. Deep margins on the swim side which have been planted with Lillies and they've been fed around these areas to draw them from the far margin. We can't wait to start showing you our catch reports for this year. The fish are going to be at their heaviest ever and in prime condition considering there has been no pressure for the last 7 months and they've been well on the feed.
Throw Back Thursday - January 2014. It seems this video was filmed between swims 3 and 4. This was already after 6 years of owning it, it took us this long to get a decent walkway through to the swim side. Stumps everywhere in rows, swamps, brambles, French red tape, its been a journey. The last 4 years has seen a massive change in the Retreat, beyond anything we ever imagined.
The last few work trips we've been doing some test fishing to get a look at the fish to see their condition and weight gains. The fishing has been hard but rewarding when an appearance is made. When you look at the Scotts recent capture at 38lb 12oz and when you see that it came out last July to Chris at 33lb 8oz.. That's 5lb 4oz in 7 months.. With the work that we've carried out over the winter, feeding programme and keeping our fish stocks low we are achieving what we set out to do.. That our back up fish will be entering the 40lb Brackets this year and we are using science and good advice to achieve this, Looking forward to see what the forties of last year come out this season and also the fifties.. We are almost certain we will break the 60lb lake record barrier this year at some point.
A Baitstation was installed this week next to the gazebo.. this will house a solar charger to charge your baitboats that can run off a 12v charger and provide lighting when you’ve got to rebait in the evenings. A surface area to organise your tackle. A cupboard underneath with a solid base to store all your food and bait. There’s a few more tweaks like a roll down front for it, rod holders and shelves that will be added before we open.
