facebook.comWe supplied the insulation for the waste-to-energy plant Amager Bakke in Copenhagen ! The plant is not just a place that makes all kinds of waste into energy, the surrounding surfaces of the plant also has multiple purposes, disguising a waste management facility as a leisure facility for families and friends. Alongside a skiing slope in the top, there will be a climbing wall to scale the 80m high structure, and a grass area on the roof for visitors to picnic on and enjoy the view over Copenhagen. This waste-to-energy plant is one of the best performing in Europe and we are proud to have been part of that project! #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud Picture by Christoffer Regild
We helped reduce the CO2 emissions for The House at Cornell Tech in New York! We are proud to have been part of the world’s largest, tallest Passive House building in New York City, which is helping meet aggressive CO2 targets. At 26 storeys, this residential facility for students, staff and faculty is the largest and tallest building ever built to the demanding Passive House standard. Strict limits on energy use for heating, cooling and thermal comfort were applied as design criteria, and therefore we were chosen as supplier of insulation for the project. As well as helping meet the Passive House standard, our non- combustible stone wool provides the acoustic insulation and fire safety that’s essential in multi-storey residential buildings. It’s estimated that The House will save 882 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, helping New York City in its quest to lighten its environmental footprint. It is the equivalent of planting 5,300 new trees – isn't that impressive ? We supplied a peaceful indoor environment for Plößberg Elementary School in Germany. Stone wool insulation helped create a safe and peaceful indoor environment for the school children and their teachers, and for that we are very proud! Children learn better in quiet environments. So when renovation work at this elementary school in southern Germany was carried out in 2016, the focus was on creating ideal acoustic conditions within the classrooms, as well as achieving high safety and energy performance standards. The ROCKWOOL solution shields the classrooms from outside noises and disturbances, and at the same time makes sure that the fire resilience is top of its class. Also the indoor climate makes a comfortable environment for learning and studying. #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud
We are helping Wilmcote House in the UK fight fuel poverty. Portsmouth’s 100-home Wilmcote House development was built in 1968 when energy performance was less of a priority than it is today. The concrete panels had just 25mm of insulation and featured electric heating which made it very costly for residents to stay warm indoors. The renovation in 2014 did not only improve the conditions within all properties, making the residents feel much warmer and substantially reducing fuel bills, it also upgraded the fire safety and indoor climate radically. Energy renovation aims to make comfortable living affordable for social housing residents, and we are proud to be helping with just that! #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud

We help keep you safe in the Ostankino Tower in Moscow! Europe’s tallest freestanding structure uses our stone wool to meet rigorous fire safety standards, and for that we are very proud! The 540-metre tall Ostankino tower broadcasts TV and radio to the centre of Moscow and is a popular tourist destination, featuring observation decks and an equipment museum. The Ostankino tower has a complex interior, with wiring, water and sewerage pipes running through the structure. When a building this tall is filled with electrical equipment, fire safety is of paramount importance, not just to keep people safe but also to protect valuable assets. Our insulation was used because of it's first class fire protection and the withstanding of temperatures above 1,000°C. And that is just one of our 7 strengths of stone. Do you know the other six? #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud
We supplied a first class indoor climate for the Wangjing SOHO development in Beijing. #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud Wangjing SOHO’s innovation in design is matched by its environmental performance. The development uses an impressive range of eco-friendly technologies, from high-performance glazing and sun shading to heat recovery and water management systems. ROCKWOOL ThermalRock insulation is used for the curtain walls, where it helps maintain an optimum indoor climate for the people who work in the building, and contributes to its LEED environmental certification. With its flowing design and excellent environmental performance, Wangjing SOHO is making a positive impact on the Beijing cityscape. We helped make that happen, and for that we are very proud!

Any child or young person deserves to be part of a community. Not least during the holiday season. Volunteers from Danish Red Cross Youth are therefore celebrating Christmas at hospitals, children’s homes, asylum centres and shelters – and for those who do not have a home. To create the Christmas spirit the rest of us know, it requires gifts and decorations, Christmas trees, candy and lots of good experiences. ROCKWOOL head office is supporting Danish Red Cross Youth to create exactly such experiences. You too can make a difference by supporting a local charity organisation of your choice. Happy holidays ! Our insulation helped create a cosy refuge for hikers and mountaineers in Slovenia. The Skuta Alpine Shelter in the Slovenian Alps, had long been the overnight shelter for hikers - but in 2016 the old structure was replaced with a piece of art. Our products and our philosophy of providing solutions that are natural, durable while securing fire safety and thermal protection, were the perfect fit in the replacement of Skuta Alpine Shelter, and we are very proud to have been part of this project. The average annual temperature at 2,000 metres is around freezing level, and in winter it can drop as low as -20°c, with high winds and snow on the ground for over six months of the year. Now people can stay safe and comfortable in an unheated structure while the mountain weather rages outside. #ROCKWOOL80 #ROCKWOOLandproud Photograph by Anže Čokl, anzecokl.com
