Michael Chekhov Europe Training Module 1: Making Contact Body – Imagination - Emotion 24 - 28 February 2017, Zagreb, Croatia With David Zinder, Tel Aviv, Israel Suzana Nikolić, Zagreb, Croatia Our lives make a difference when we connect, when we make contact. We can make contact with ourselves, to somebody (one person or a group of people) or to something (space, objects, subjects). There is no artistic work without contact. In fact there is no life without it. When we start to relearn and develop contact, we make the difference to our profession and to our life. In order to make our work on stage authentic and alive, we need to get into contact with both our inner images and our emotions within seconds. Imagination is a matter of fact. Every human being has it. And every artist has his/her own way to use it. For an actor 80% of his/her work is concrete imagination. Images are the core of creativity. They are the fuel of ideas and emotions. How do we create images? How do they feed the emotional life of the character? And how can we embody images, make them physical, so that we can share them with the audience? The Michael Chekhov technique connects our sub-consciousness and imagination to the physical reality creating the world of sensations and emotions. We will work on ● Concentration ● Imagination● Gesture ● Psycho-physical Exercises ● Voice ● Images in poetry ● Qualities of Movement ● Sensations, Feelings ● GENERAL INFORMATION PLACE & DATE Place: StudioChekhov Croatia, Gajeva 10 Date: Friday 24 – Tuesday 28, February 2017 From: 09.00h – 15.00h WORKING MATERIAL: W. Shakespeare “Macbeth” Please read the play several times and choose the character and the scene you would like to work with/on. Working language: English / Participants can act in their own language Working group size: Approx. 15 to 20 participants Please plan your arriving at latest on Thursday afternoon (February 23) and leaving on Wednesday morning (March 1). There will be a reception and introduction evening on February 23 at 18.00h at StudioChekhov. Costs Application before January 15, 2017 € 420,-- Application after January 15, 2017 € 450,-- Observers per a day € 50,-- Participants from Croatia and non-EU-countries can apply for a grant / discount (only limited number). Housing and food are not included. Practical info: Accommodation: You can book your rooms through Airbnb or Booking.com Cheap places are also available at various hostels near the centre of the city. Eating in Zagreb: A lots of possibilities near the Studio. Currency: Croatian Kuna (Kn) Exchange rate: 1 Euro = 7,66 Kn HOW TO GET TO ZAGREB Zagreb is very well connected to Europe and other world destinations. You can travel by plane, bus or train.
