U prošlosti su se zubi vadili kada bi došlo do upale živca, danas primjenom endodoncije, odnosno terapije korijenskih kanala to više nije tako. Zbog dubokog karijesa ili traume može doći do upale zubnog živca. Tada je potrebno živac odstraniti i obraditi korijenske kanale. Ukoliko se to ne učini, infekcija se može proširiti na periapeksno područje (oko vrška korijena). Takva progresija infekcije ima za posljedicu stvaranje granuloma ili cistu. U našem dentalnom studiju prilikom endodonske terapije se koristi RVG, nikal titanijum rotirajući instrumenti, trodimenzionalna obturacija korijenskog kanala, apeks finder i laser što endodonsku terapiju čini bezbolnom i vrlo učinkovitom.
