The Public is a Michelin guide listed vintage American bar and restaurant originally from San Francisco... now open to the good citizens of Shanghai. The Public is an intimate 40-seat bar and restaurant offering a wide selection of wine, beer and most importantly original, classic and contemporary spins on vintage American Cocktails.
Our philosophy of great food and drinks starts with using hand-crafted ice, house-made infusions, bitters, elixirs, tinctures, and syrups combined with a food menu comprised of organic and locally sourced produce to offer guests the best ingredients for the total culinary experience.
To keep things specialized and diverse we will present a different meal special each night of the week to keep diners and imbibers engaged and a civilized merry red all week/year long, a reason to come back again and again.
With a warm and cozy atmosphere along with convenient central location, The Public will be an arbiter of contemporary urban culture in China, sidestepping both the gawdy “glamour” of the status-seeking hootchie clubs and a cheap shots water holes to offer a casual fine drinking and dining experience without the stiff formality of an upscale dining establishment.
